When you jump into Borderlands 3, you're asked a whole new question. Some players are not sure how to go about it. Do you want to play the game in co-op or coopetition? Those who play through the single player game don't need to worry about the answer to this question. This choice is primarily intended for those who are going to play it with friends via split screen or online co-op. What are the differences between the two?
Cooperation or cooperation in Borderlands 3?
Cooperation
Playing this way ensures that any loot, ammo, money, or anything else you see on the field is purely yours. Members of your party cannot steal this from you. You don't need to state what kind of ammo they need, and if they're having trouble buying items, you don't have to make sure they get the next money. Everyone is playing the game together, but they're not trying to catch up.
Plus, you all level up at the same pace. You won't find yourself two or three levels behind your party members. Everyone you play with stays on the same level and progresses at the same time. It offers a balanced experience so that you can enjoy Borderlands 3 without having to worry about the pace of the match.
Coopetition
The classic Borderlands experience. Sure, you want to play with friends, but you need to act fast if you want the best loot or have enough ammo for the next boss battle. If you have good friends, they'll let you know when they find the right type of weapon for you to use or who will want to call when they see the type of ammo you need. If they aren't, they won't tell you about it. You are going to know that they are getting the best loot, because you will see them with the best weapons in the game.
Not only will they have the best guns, but they might also be a level or two ahead of you. Although you were playing together they killed more enemies than you and were able to clear an entire area before you could drop someone off. They steal all experience points, and they'll make you work to keep up. However, you could do the same to them while you are playing. It's a race to complete the game together. But you are also competing with your friends for the best of everything.
Which one do you choose? It's up to you and your friend. Borderlands 3 is the first in the series to pose this new style of play, so not everyone knows how they want to play it. Newcomers to the game series can take advantage of the Co-op mode. But those who play with their friends from Borderlands may feel weird if they've started working together while they're playing, which means Coopetition is the perfect option for you.
Borderlands 3 is out now for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC through the Epic Games Store. You can play on shared screens on consoles with another friend or with a party of up to four players on each platform.
