Assetto Corsa Competizione it's a game we really enjoyed.
A title as simulative as possible, which launches us into the splendid world of GT competitions, one of the most loved by racing enthusiasts.
After getting to know the level of the game closely using the GT3 championship cars, also debuted on consoles Assetto Corsa Competizione DLC GT4 Pack.
It is a'game expansion by Kunos Simulations and 505 Games, which allows you to drive even the splendid cars of the GT4 championship, slower than the GT3 but also easier and more fun.
We have tested them thoroughly on PS4 and we will tell you what we felt driving these little beasts!

Let's take a step back… what are GT4s?
Before telling you how we found the new cars in Assetto Corsa Competizione, let's see together how they differ from the larger GT3s.
The cars belonging to the GT4 category are, like the GT3s, racing cars based almost entirely on a model, almost always sporty, of the House series.
However, if the GT3s have dedicated engines, aerodynamics studied in detail, the GT4s are almost identical to the so-called "track day cars", cars derived from the series and modified to be suitable for track use.
An example of this mechanism is the excellent Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.
Based entirely on the equally excellent 718 Cayman GT4, it differs from the road version by the presence of a sequential gearbox on the steering wheel, a roll-bar and the elimination of most of the interior.
A version designed for the track that can be purchased in a Porsche dealer and used on the track freely.
Just the same car purchased in an official Porsche dealer can be FIA homologated and used in GT4 championships.
There are also other cars competing in the GT4 championship which are converted by private teams, which take a road car and make it compatible with GT4 rules.
The result is very different cars with different types of engines, mechanical layouts and transmissions, but they are uniform as much as possible to make them perform at the same level.
Not only that, but once homologated they can no longer be modified in any component.
In this way, the cars are at the same level of performance, and have far lower purchase and operating costs than the GT3s.
Finally, the drivers who race in the GT4 championship are not established professionals.
This championship is the gateway to the world of GT and Endurance racing, and is only open to amateur drivers or newbies who are starting their careers.
Which cars are featured in Assetto Corsa Competizione DLC GT4?
Assetto Corsa Competizione DLC GT4 gives access to 11 new cars.
In this parterre we have completely different cars.
There are cars designed just for this use like Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport e Mercedes AMG GT4. Then we have a new entry in GT racing like Alpine A110, two featherweight like KTM X-Bow e Ginetta G55, but also an Italian, Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4, derived from the Trofeo variant.
There's even a muscle car loaned to the track, Chevrolet Camaro, a real supercar like McLaren 570S and three stars of the category like Audi R8 LMS, BMW M4 e Aston Martin Vantage.
There are cars with aspirated and turbo engines, with small 4 cylinders and with mammoth V8, with rear, central or front engine.
But they all share the rear-wheel drive only and the desire to let those who get behind their wheel learn how to drive a GT car.
Assetto Corsa Competizione DLC GT4: how are GT4s driven?
After having told you about the life, death and miracles of GT4 class cars, now we can tell you how they behave on the track.
The first impact is almost alienating.
In fact, the cars are much slower than the GT3 already present, and therefore for those who have already done several hours of driving on Assetto Corsa Competizione it will be necessary to find new braking points, and get used to cornering grip that is sometimes much lower.
That said, after the first 10 minutes of the apprenticeship, we found that GT4s are even more fun than GT3s!
To be honest it was exactly what we expected, but really finding driving fun like this was a pleasant surprise. In fact, cars are less stable, and for this reason, to go fast it is not enough to accelerate to the maximum and enjoy sophisticated tires and aerodynamics.
To get the best out of the GT4 you need to be delicate and precise, and at times you can also exhibit in delightful oversteering of power.
Each GT4 then has its own irrepressible personality.
Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport for example, it has a very gentle power delivery, so much so that it even seems slow. When entering corners, however, it is very stable, and the immediate response of its naturally aspirated 6-cylinder boxer makes it perfect for overtaking at the limit.
In reverse, Alpine A110 GT4 it has a much more energetic engine and with a lot more torque, but it is much more nervous and needs a fine adjustment and a lot of patience to open the throttle to go fast.
Each car has its own distinct personality, and each is perfectly made both from a graphic, physical and "auditory" point of view.

For Assetto Corsa Competizione DLC GT4 a new mode and separate rankings online
We conclude by briefly explaining where you can race with GT4s within Assetto Corsa Competizione.
For the small GTs, in fact, it was a dedicated section of the Career mode, and in the Single Player modes it is possible to participate in races dedicated exclusively to GT4s.
If, on the other hand, you love to play Online, the same thing will happen as in real GT racing around the world.
In other words, both GT3 and GT4 will coexist in the same race field, who will compete both for the general classification and for two separate standings for the two categories.
The cost of all this "slow" fun? Assetto Corsa Competizione DLC GT4 costs € 19,99 on both the PlayStation Store for PS4 and the Microsoft Store for Xbox One.
Too? Seeing the quality with which each car has been reproduced and the fun they bring almost greater than the GT3s, in our opinion it is a fair price.
