The viking frame
Assassin's Creed as a series has been in so many different areas over the years, with them, of course, not being able to please everyone. There are still people who want things like feudal Japan, but the Vikings are a very good choice for the series to tackle. This fits the tone of the series perfectly and provides some great play options in the areas where the game takes place here. Weaving all the Assassins and Templars into the mix should make it even more interesting, in addition to some very intriguing locations. This includes building your own colony the way you want, which should be a really fun part of the game.
Return of the Hidden Blade
Assassin's Creed has evolved a lot over the years, with the fairly predictable formula being completely upended starting with Origins. The series started to move away from stealth, it was as if, the Hidden Blade was removed entirely in Odyssey. It's a staple of the Assassin's Creed series and it was something fans wanted in return, which Valhalla will deliver. Not only is the Hidden Blade back, but stealth is a big part of the game as well, which should inspire series veterans to pick up this one early.
Simultaneous launch of new generation
Assassin's Creed Valhalla hits all platforms next week, including PS5 two days after everything else on November 12. This means that there is no delay in the next-gen release other than the two days for PS4 and PS5. Those who can say that they would just wait for the next generation can just step in from day one to get the upgraded version of the game. This version should have improved load times with the SSD on either system, this which should make a huge difference in the game when it comes to death and fast moving, among other things.
Free upgrade to Xbox Series X / S / PS5
In addition to the improvements to the game on next-gen consoles, the fact that the game has a free upgrade path is another reason to pick up the game at launch. There are certainly people out there who would probably say they weren't getting a next-gen console at launch, either because they chose not to or couldn't get a pre-order. As a result, they could normally say that they don't want to buy it now and then have to buy it again for the upgraded version when they finally get a console. Instead, you can get the game at launch and enjoy it, and then every time you get a next-gen console, you can instantly enjoy it without having to pay a dime.
Get the pre-order bonus mission
This one technically requires you to pre-order the game before its release next week, although that's still part of the reason to buy at launch. To pre-order the game from a physical or digital retailer, you will receive The Way of the Berserker quest which is exclusive to pre-orders. The description given by Ubisoft for this mission is "Eivor joins a legendary Berserker in a quest for revenge."
