Infinite Halo This game's release date is only a few months away, but there is still a lot we don't know about the game. There is an air of mystery surrounding one of the Xbox launch titles. Series X - even after the Xbox Games Showcase in July - and what gamers are concerned about is the potential for inclusion of microtransactions.
Microtransactions and loot boxes have crept into games over the past few years and are looked down upon by gamers due to companies trying to increase their profits through game sales. There has always been the possibility that Infinite Halo will have microtransactions, so is there still confirmation one way or the other?
Fortunately, there are. A Halo Waypoint article, written by 343 Community Leader John Junyszek following the Xbox Games Showcase live stream in July, has given us a definitive answer. Junyszek has confirmed that Infinity Halo will not have real money microtransactions or loot boxes as part of its gameplay mechanics.
This means that you won't be forced to spend real money on cosmetics, in-game currency, or anything else that might lead to suggestions Infinite Halo is a “pay-to-win” title. It's a welcome step for 343 Industries, and ensures it's one less thing for Halo fans to worry about on the launch.
Of course, real money microtransactions don't necessarily mean in-game currency loot boxes won't be used. If there is a currency system in play in Infinite Halo, however, you will earn some by playing the game. So you will not have to use your own money to buy new skins and other items.
343 has revealed that they'll be talking about Infinite Halo's multiplayer component before launch, so hopefully they'll say more about the in-game currency loot boxes or microtransactions when they do. If nothing else, it will put everyone at ease, especially those who haven't seen the Halo Waypoint article by this point.
