Following the new DPCM, on 22 October at 11.30 a new press conference for the Lucca Comics & Games, Changes edition. Here are all the news announced during the streaming conference, broadcast on the official channels of Lucca including YouTube, Facebook and Twitch.
The Changes edition will be held from October 29th to November 1st.
Lucca Changes: recent news
Despite the difficulties we are going through and the new restrictions due to the pandemic, Lucca Comics does not want to give up this edition which has already undergone several changes in the past. This year's edition is completely revolutionary and includes both face-to-face and digital events about comics, video games and much more.
Below are all the news announced during the press conference on October 22 2020. It starts with physical events which will be held within the city of Lucca. According to what has been announced, they will be able to enter only people with tickets and the physical events were reduced: initially about 50 events were expected, now they have decreased to 30.

Many have undergone a change in terms of place, date and time. Clicking here you will find all the changes, including the canceled events. Furthermore also the number of locations has been reduced: at the beginning there were 10, now we only have them available 3. Among them we find the Teatro del Ciglio, the main location, followed by the Teatro San Girolamo and the Cinema Astra.
Within these locations will be held main meetings scheduled to which, as mentioned above, only those who have purchased the ticket can participate.
The main change of this edition concerns the possibility of being able to participate in events also in digital mode. All events will in fact be available in streaming on the event website and through collaboration with RAI. Clicking here you will find the complete program.
Lucca Comics & Games has decided to delete the Pop-Up Store. The facility where visitors could buy comics, board games and more will not be set up. The initiative will be held in the specialized shops in Lucca that were supposed to manage the Pop-Up Store, including:
- The collector (piazza San Giusto and via San Paolino),
- Dungeon Store (via Pisana, Sant'Anna district).
Refunded exhibitions, eSports and tickets
The exhibition remains confirmed Dream On a Ducal Palace while Casa Rodari (initially planned at Villa Bottini) will take shape both in Lucca and on the web. In addition, the exhibition will be held in Lucca, in the spaces of the Ex-Cavallerizza, and two scheduled shows Sunday, November 1 at the Giglio Theater:
- "Dodò and the space adventure" by RAI Ragazzi, at 14:00;
- “The blue arrow” with Ascanio Celestini, at 21:00.
Training activities and meetings with authors will instead be available in the form of webinar and streaming. Both Dream on at Palazzo Ducale and the exhibition Rodari 100 they will be visited only by holders of a ticket for scheduled meetings. The visit must be carried out on the same day as the show enjoyed.
The Italian Esports Open 2020 by Vodafone of ESL in Lucca Changes, for a truly unique edition. This year the Esports Cathedral will turn on its spotlight but in formula totally digital on the reference export tournament for the Tuscan event.
Moreover, there will be competition and adrenaline with the Valorant tournament which will give life to the “Valorant Lucca Showdown 2020 by Vodafone” days 30 e 31 October and Clash of Clans di Supercell with the "Clash of Clans Lucca Open 2020 by Vodafone" on 1st November.
Lucca Comics & Games announced that will personally refund canceled match tickets and that will no longer be held live, including those of the Pop-Up Store. To apologize for this small inconvenience, Lucca has announced that anyone who has a refund for canceled events will be entitled to purchase the reduced ticket for the 2021 edition by Lucca Comics & Games.
This mode is also valid for all those people who have purchased the Campfire Pass 2020. To receive a refund, you do not need to do anything: those who have a ticket for a canceled event, will receive an email and the refund of the ticket price plus the cost of the presale by November 30.
Fortunately though the network of 115 campfires remains intact with the rich offer of releases, product and activity previews, necessarily limited in light of the new regulations.
Lucca Comics and RAI, a partnership of excellence
Through the Main Media Partnership with Rai, the planned activities could be follow even at a distance. The innovative element of this collaboration concerns the role of RAI. The channel becomes one of places through which it will be possible to "participate", take advantage of the program of the event.
For this, on the place you find an entire section dedicated to the Rai publishers involved, with direct references to scheduled events. A great way to allow everyone to follow Lucca Changes even from their own home. radio 2 is the official radio of this edition and will follow the event with exclusive interviews with the protagonists and live social directly from the stages of Lucca.
Rai Play will host an entire section created specifically for the event in which unpublished content will be available. Rai4 will dedicate to the event three Wonderland specials in the late evening of which an absolute exclusive while Rai Cultura will address the themes of Lucca Changes in a special episode of Terza Pagina that will be broadcast on Rai5.
To complete the program, we find Rai Boys which will propose a streaming show case dedicated to Topo Gigio, in the new all-Italian animation, broadcast on Rai Yoyo and Rai Play.
Rai Italy will tell what will happen in the campfire all’estero, that is the Italian Cultural Institutes with which Lucca Comics & Games has organized promotional activities for Italian comics as part of the XX Week of the Italian language in the world promoted by MAECI.
