Alcatel 1S has officially arrived in Italy with the intention of conquering the very young, those who are preparing to use their first real smartphone. But is he really worth your money? We talk about it in this review.

Solid, elegant and colorful

La prima cosa che noterete di Alcatel 1S è la back cover. Realizzata in policarbonato, la scocca è characterized by a metallic look and a satin and brushed finish. An elegant mix that is particularly enhanced by the Metallic Blue color. But if you want something less flashy and more traditional you can always opt for the Metallic Black variant. I point out that the back cover also hosts the fingerprint reader, fast and accurate. Aren't you excited? You can always use Face Key technology for facial recognition.

On the sides we have on the right the on / off button and the volume rocker, while on the left we find the slot dedicated to the two SIMs and the microSD. The upper profile instead houses the inevitable and always appreciated 3,5 mm jack, while the lower part is dedicated to the speaker and the micro USB input for charging.

Finally we have the 5,5-inch Full View IPS LCD display with HD + resolution and an aspect ratio of 18: 9. On its screen you can watch movies, surf online and play games without too much trouble. Finally, the brightness, which makes it perfectly visible even under the sun, and the viewing angles were promoted with flying colors.

All this in form factor compact, lightweight and easy to handle with one hand.

And the performances?

Alcatel 1S defends itself well, calculating the value for money. The octa-core processor, together with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM, allows you to carry out classic daily activities. Of course you will not have problems with light games and with apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, Maps and many others.

Good connectivity and the speaker, which offers an absolutely average volume, while it is really satisfying the battery that despite its 3060 mAh - few on paper - can take you to the end of the day. Loading times: about 3 hours to get to 100%.

Finally, we come to the software, Android 9.0 Pie in an almost stock version. Yes, because Alcatel's customizations are really reduced to a minimum, thus guaranteeing a fluid and reactive system.

Shall we take a picture?

Double the rear camera of Alcatel 1S: the first, the main one, is from 13 megapixel (interpolated from 16 MP) while the second sensor is from 2 megapixel and is responsible for the collection of information related to depth.

Several shooting modes and functions present: we have the bokeh effect - here simply called Aperture - and HDR, but also Burst Shot, Pan, Manual mode and Night Shot. The result? Definitely decent, in good light conditions. Average in the dark, a situation in which Alcatel 1S must use the appropriate mode.

La 5 megapixel front camera (interpolated to 8 MP): ideal for selfies thanks to the presence of a built-in LED flash. In addition, you can enjoy a number of options that allow you to smooth the skin, enlarge the eyes or slim the face.
