Age of Empires: the Android version finally arrives

Age of Empires: the Android version finally arrives

Developed and published by Microsoft, the Age Of Empires series has gone down in the posterity of PC gamers. Today, we are going to tell you about the mobile version, which was released some time ago on Microsoft Phone, and was available since Tuesday on the Google Store in some countries. The rest of the world should follow quickly.

Unlike its predecessors, Age of Empires: Castle Siege will not be an RTS where the management of its resources and armies is crucial. Here, it is a strategy game but more in real time, its game mechanics even moving away from it. Roughly summarized, we could say that Age of Empires: Castle Siege is a multiplayer tower defense inspired by Clash of Clans or Cloud Raiders, in which the player must build a castle allowing him to produce resources and raise an army. The latter can be used to attack the castles of other players in order to recover additional resources.

Age of Empire: Castle Siege, an outdated model?

The game initially debuted for Windows Phone in 2014 and was ported to iOS a year later. It is currently unclear why the Android port is three years behind schedule, although its development has likely only started recently.

Designed on the criticized freemium model, with optional purchases, Age of Empires: Castle Siege is a game that we didn't consider to be a “pay-to-win” since without buying anything, the progression is always so linear; only the impatient will be able to spend a few euros to move quickly. Besides the part where you have to defend your tower, Age of Empires: Castle Siege has, like an RPG, a talent tree that players can customize to improve their defenses and make life more difficult for their opponents.

In the vein of Age of Empires games on PC, this one lets you to control a number of famous civilizations like the French and British. Its game mechanics, the way of farming, of defending, etc. We can therefore consider that Age of Empires: Castle Siege looks like titles like Clash of Clans, Star Wars: Commander or Cloud Raiders. Released almost 2 years ago on Microsoft, it remains to be seen whether it is relevant on the part of the developers to have released a game that the game model is a bit outdated, since players prefer to get closer to titles like Clash Royale, etc.

Age of Empires: Castle Siege is officially compatible with all devices using Android 4.4 KitKat and newer versions. Highly anticipated by fans of the saga, there is no doubt that Age of Empires: Castle Siege will meet with success to live up to its prestigious name.

Is the game going to generate the same excitement as a Clash Royale where some players don't hesitate to spend crazy sums to progress?
