The new Vertuo® machine from Nespresso is able to serve as desired an espresso, a gran lungo or a large mug… A feat made possible by a new patented technology, the “Centrifusion®”.
The "Centrifusion" is a system for extracting coffee aromas resulting from ten years of Research & Development. It makes it possible to prepare strong or long coffees thanks to a new method which includes on the one hand, a phase of infusion of the ground during which the aromas are released, and on the other hand a use of centrifugal force for optimize the passage of water in the coffee.
By adjusting these two parameters, the Centrifusion allows you to make coffees of great aromatic power with an incomparable crema, even in a large cup. The Vertuo machine therefore offers three possible cup sizes: espresso (40 ml), long coffee (150 ml) or mug (230 ml).
Each coffee has its own setting
Concretely, thanks to an optical reader that reads the information contained in a code printed at the base of the capsules, the Vertuo machine is able to configure the extraction method to be implemented to obtain the best results in the cup for the variety selected and the desired cup length.
In this way, the machine automatically adapts the volume, temperature and flow of water required for preparation. It also calculates the duration of infusion and the speed of rotation of the capsule to best release the aromas of coffee and cause the appearance of a delicate foam called crema.
In short, "Centrifusion" allows you to preserve the aromas of the coffee without drowning them in an overflow of water. An ambition made possible thanks to a motor which can raise the rotation of a capsule up to 7.000 revolutions per minute. In all cases, the Centrifusion optimizes the passage of water through the coffee.
One touch for 18 different coffees
The capsules of the Vertuo range are a little larger than the classic capsules and have a rounded face. For Vertuo, these capsules are available in 18 varieties. They come in three different sizes and correspond to three cup lengths to satisfy all tastes at any time of the day. The range currently includes ten varieties of “Mug”, four of “Gran Lungo” and four of “Espresso”.
Once the capsule is inserted, just press a single button to start the preparation of a coffee. In a few seconds, the capsule first operates a slight rotation so that the machine reads the code printed at its base. Then begins the infusion, the capsule remaining static. As the infusion continues, the machine begins to spin the capsule on itself faster and faster to reach the optimum speed for the coffee chosen. The coffee preparation ends with a drying time. The opening and closing of the capsule receptacle are electronic and the ejection of the capsule, automatic, and all Nespresso capsules are recyclable.
