Already deployed in many cities of Our country, 4G technology opens very high speed to the exchange of data on smartphones and tablets. The proposed speed can go up to 100 megabits / second, ie a speed five times higher than that of the 3G + standard. To benefit from it, you must be equipped with a compatible mobile device and have subscribed to a suitable package.
Understanding 4G
4G is the 4th generation mobile network. We use the term "4G" in comparison to 3G, which already allows a comfortable flow on mobile devices equipped with it. The network uses LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology and offers very high speed access, which can go up to 100 megabits / second. The speed is comparable to that offered by optical fiber at home.
The advantages of 4G are directly linked to data access on a mobile device.
- Faster data download with five times the speed of 3G,
- Access to streaming videos without latency,
- Better quality video calls ...
Several conditions are necessary to benefit from it:
- Have a 4G compatible smartphone and plan,
- Be in an area covered by the 4G network. This is the case in more and more large cities.
- Some tablets may also be compatible with 4G.
Configure 4G on your smartphone or tablet
When the smartphone or tablet is compatible with 4G, the network is automatically configured when it is available. If the setting is not correctly taken into account, it may be necessary to update the device from the “settings” menu.
Once this update has been carried out, choose the “4G” network from the networks offered and select automatic mode. If it is not available, check that the smartphone is in a 4G coverage area.
When 4G is activated, a “4G” logo appears on the screen of the mobile device.
Compare speeds with 4G
There are several technologies used by mobile terminals. The 4G currently deployed in our country is the technology which allows the highest speed.
2G provides access to a speed of less than one megabit per second. It allows you to make and receive phone calls, and send or receive text sms.
3G, or UMTS, is marked with a 3G logo. After the GPRS and Edge standards, it is the first technology to offer data exchange rates that can be around 2 megabits / second.
The 3G + standard is the one currently offered by most operators instead of 3G. It opens up access to a speed that can go up to 21 megabits per second.
The Dual Carrier, or H +, is the last step before the arrival of 4G. This technology allows a speed that can go up to 40 megabits per second.
