How to change the difficulties
In addition to the visual novel side of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, the game features top-to-bottom RTS style combat that you can enjoy through what's known as the Destruction side of the game. When you start playing the game and as you go into the tutorial a bit, you'll have the option to set a difficulty level between what's called Casual, Normal, and Intense.
Par will of course be your option in the middle of the difficulty of the route most people will want to use which serves as a balanced version of the three. Even for those who aren't really big in this genre, Normal won't be too much of a major challenge for you in general.
If by any chance Normal gets a little tedious and you prefer to simplify everything so that you can enjoy the story, Casual is also the option available for you. This is designed to let you focus on the story and destroy any enemies you come across.
On the other side, we also have the Intense difficulty level, which is definitely aimed at veterans of the genre. If you're bored with combat because you think it's too easy, this is definitely the one to switch to. It can get very difficult in some places so be extra careful and be prepared for any challenges ahead if you select this one.
The good news is that your initial difficulty option isn't the end of the game. If you're not happy with the one you've chosen, you can change it whenever you want. This is done from the Destruction menu where you can choose the area and the waves you want to face. By pressing R1, you can cycle through the three difficulty levels, which will be displayed near the area at the top right of the screen. Just keep switching between them to get to the one you want and you can start your next wave with whatever new difficulty level you choose.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim's Story is one of the best parts of the whole game, so taking the easier route to get through the story faster isn't the worst option for some people. That's why it's great to have the difficulty options. So choose the ones that suit you.
