Fortnite has some cool crossover content happening with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This not only includes a number of characters from the blockbuster movie, but also the ability to use a lightsaber. It is a soft weapon that not only deflects bullets, but also does major damage to enemies and structures.
But nothing lasts forever, as Lightsabers are expected to be leaving the game soon. It hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but we have a good idea of when it will release, ahem, Forceful.
When will the Fortnite lightsabers go?
A Twitter account named HYPEX - Fortnite Leaks & News recently reported that Lightsabers "should be removed from default modes" on January 7, 2020. That still gives a decent time to acquire one, for those of you Fortnite devotees who haven't already.
Epic Games has officially made no comment on them. However, the licensed content has a way to exit, to be brought into the store shortly thereafter.
For example, John Wick's Bounty LTM, which debuted earlier this year, recently returned this month, with its respective character skin.
So when could he come back? More than likely, with the film's potential home release, which could happen in late March or April. The content could temporarily leave and then return at that point to build a hype, perhaps with more lightsaber challenges. It's not confirmed, but it would make more sense given the partnership.
You still have time to get a saber
Fortnite players still have the option of getting their hands on a lightsaber.
They are considered mythical items, thanks to drops from special Star Wars themed chests. Once found, however, there is an assortment to choose from, including red, green, blue, and purple. You can find a step-by-step breakdown of where to find these weapons in our helpful guide here, along with how to use them.
After you acquire one, you'll want to check out all of its specific challenges in the game. Fortunately, we've also got a list of where to find them, as well as what rewards you can get.
There is still time to take advantage of this special Fortnite content offer, so do it. Remember, there is no trying.
