A pleasant dark mode
WhatSapp isn't the first app, far from it, to offer dark mode on smartphones, but we can say that the developers have done a very good job.
The new interface is very pleasant to use. Note that this is a dark "gray" mode, a bit like what Twitter offers in particular, and not an "OLED" mode with completely black backgrounds.
The developers announce that the choice of colors was made primarily to increase readability and reduce eye fatigue.
How to activate the dark theme
Activating the dark theme of WhatsApp is particularly easy since smartphones running iOS 13 and Android 10 can directly access the dark theme according to their general settings. If your smartphone is already configured in dark mode, WhatsApp switches to automatic dark mode.
For users of Android 9 smartphones, or earlier, here is the procedure:
- Go to WhatsApp settings
- Then in the "Discussions" part
- Look for the option "Themes"
- Select "Dark"
