How to actually fish
Let me start by saying this. There are many ways to collect food resources. From berry picking to wild boar hunting and more. Why then prefer fishing to all of the above? Simply enough, because of its security and speed. Of course, you can go exploring, finding different foods along the way, but there is always a chance that a rabid beast will try to ruin your day. This is why staying in one place with your trusty rod is so much safer and easier to do.
Having said that, let me show you how to do it. First, find the fishing rod. This is a required item to be able to pursue such an activity, so be sure to read this guide here, to see in detail how you can find one.
After grabbing your rod, let's start fishing. Go to your inventory and right click on the fishing rod to equip it and attach the bait right after. Then find a spot with water and stand close. Try to spot a fish or a pond of fish. Then follow the steps below:
- Hold the left mouse button down to load your cast.
- Release it to cast your line.
- The right mouse button is used to wrap your line.
- If the fish catches our bait, just spam the right mouse button to bring it back to you.
- Pay attention to your stamina bar, as it runs out when trying to tire the fish
- Once the fish is close enough to you, click "E" to grab it.
- Enjoy your easy raw meat.
As you can see, the process is really simple and easy. To be honest, this was my favorite way to store raw meats because I could do it faster than researching animals. Plus, the fishing rod NEVER breaks, so you can use it for as long as you want in one session. In my opinion, the team behind Valheim will be adding other things that you can get from fishing, to make it an even more enjoyable activity. But we have to wait and see what they have in store for us.
Valheim is now available via Steam Early Access.
