tinder is doing some big updates to its app this week, mainly to give people more information about the match. One will be available on the app exploration card, similar to Instagram, which will allow people to find different ways to interact with other users.
New match features coming to Tinder
In the explore tab, users will find activities such as Swipe Night, Tinder's interactive video game, and a new feature called Hot Takes. In this mode, active from 18:00 to midnight, participants will answer questions such as "Which of these is the most pretentious?" and then they will exchange messages in a chat that it will disappear within thirty seconds if no one answers.
Also participants can put "I like it" to each other and pair from this screen. For the first time in Tinder history, users will be able to communicate before actually engaging in a match. The purpose is to offer them some topic to discuss and to evaluate, therefore, the actual chemistry between the two.
From the Explore tab users can also decide to take a look at the possible matches who share theirs "Passions" or tag that they put on their profile. This means that people can select that they only want to see people who "love video games" or are "thrill seekers".
The idea, says the CEO Jim Lanzone, is to give people more control. Lanzone revealed: "It is just a matter of giving more methods to get to know people.". Plus, Tinder will allow people to upload videos as part of their profiles. Up to nine videos are supported and the maximum length is 15 seconds.
The words of the CEO of Tinder
Lanzone describes all these changes as "Tinder's first step in becoming more of a platform than a simple app." It's not about becoming an "entertainment hub," he says, but rather about help people get to know each other before a possible match. In fact, many people prefer to get to know the person with whom to go out better, to evaluate the actual chemistry e tuning.
Overall, all of these features continue to expand Tinder's efforts for make it more than just an app that judges people based on their photos. It's trying to give users more context, more ways to start a conversation, and more reasons to use the app.
Lanzone reveals that while the team continues to innovate, its main goal will be to not slow down the app's “kinetic energy”. So basically it is swipe won't go anywhere. For more information you can consult the official website.
