As of June 30, 2021, Netflix will no longer be supported on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Netflix, the popular streaming service, is available on almost every platform, from PCs and smartphones to smart TVs, from Chromecast to Amazon's Fire TV Stick and Nintendo will be the only console manufacturer not to have models compatible with the service.
Netflix on Nintendo: Goodbye to service support on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS
According to reports from both companies, support will be discontinued for the only two consoles that actually allow access to Netflix, considering that there is no support for Nintendo Switch yet. Although the latter console is extremely popular with the public and the multiple past news regarding possible Netflix support, the service is not yet present on the Nintendo Switch.
But for those who own Wii U or Nintendo 3DS and use the Netflix app, there's still time. Nintendo's support page that confirmed the stopping of the streaming service states that the application will no longer be usable as of June 30 2021. Which means users still have six months to enjoy the service. However, the app has already been removed from the Nintendo eShop on December 31, 2020. So you can only use it if you have already downloaded it once in the past, even if in the meantime you have uninstalled it and proceed to reinstall it.

The end of Netflix support on these Nintendo consoles doesn't surprise us, given the huge number of better platforms compatible with the streaming service. Like tablets, PCs or smartphones where the viewing experience is certainly better. This situation, however, highlights how Netflix is missing out - for years - to be supported on the most popular console of the Japanese giant: Nintendo Switch. We hope that these six months that separate us from the discontinuity of the service will finally bring Netflix to Switch.
