The Outer Worlds is filled with decisions that can affect how the game's different factions see you. It won't always be easy to know what to do. Such a decision will be made by Monarch during the quest for Candid's Cradle. You'll need to fix a radio for Hiram, and when you do a ship crash, you'll pick up a targeting mod. You will then need to decide where to give the mod to Sanjar or Graham.
The Outer Worlds - Candid's Cradle - Should you give the module to Sanjar or Graham?
Before making any of these in-game decisions, it's always a good idea to get as much information as possible. NPCs will hide information from you, or outright lie to you, to get you to join them. Hack into terminals, search for notes, and talk to as many characters as you can before making your decision.
Give the module to Sanjar
If you give the mod to Sanjar, Stellar Bay ends up being attacked. You have to defend him and have to kill Graham and Zora. As a reward you will get bits, experience, and a special flamethrower weapon.
Give the module to Graham
If you give the mod to Graham, you lead the assault on Stellar Bay and must kill Sanjar. This will give you a 100% negative rep with Monarch Stellar Industries, so expect nothing more than aggression from them for the rest of the game. You will get bits, experience, and a special heavy machine gun to do so.
There is a way to solve this quest without bloodshed, but only if you manage to do very specific things in other quests:
- Read the archives of Sanjar - BOLT with his name Quest
- Bring extra food to Zora - The Commuter Quest
- Saving the Medics - Pay for the Printing House Quest
- Complete the Sucker Bait quest for Zora
You will also need high dialogue skills to gain access to the options you will need to get the parties to negotiate. To get them to agree to a peaceful resolution, you'll need to ask them if they'll agree to a truce, then tell Sanjar that you've read his records and that he knows he can't do it on his own. Then tell Sanjar that he needs someone who can see the big picture and recommend Zora.
You will then need to talk to Zora and if you have met the above requirements you can side with her, but you will have to kill Graham. You will need 55 Persuasion and 55 Leadership for the truce to work, and Graham will have to die, there can be no truce if he's alive.
