Rest: Ashes throws you bosses that are a mixture of complicated and disgusting. Sometimes the disgusting is how badly the boss can hit you, and sometimes it's their appearance. For Canker, it comes down to appearance. This yellow, boiling-infested creature rises from murky waters to greet you and you will need to take it. Here are the models and weapons to use to take down this formidable creature.
How to beat canker in the remainder: From ash
Model
Canker is a direct boss. You will need to watch out for a pair of attacks, one being long range and the other attacking fast. Long range occurs when Canker releases a wave of energy, emitting a disgusting blast that radiates from there into a forward cone. It's a massive wave that crosses everything in its path. When that happens you want to try and land, across the room, or hide behind one of the huge arena pillars. Although the wave has a large radius, it does not go forward. You can stay a reasonable distance from Canker and safely avoid this attack.
The other attack takes place when Canker rushes forward, lifting himself up with his arms in a whirling motion as small orbs appear from the back of his body. These lethargic globes stay on the ground, waiting for you to approach them. If you do, they will burst and splash you with corrosive damage. Your best option is to stay away from Canker, taking photos from a distance. When he starts to throw himself like that, you want to focus your fire on him and try to hit his gaping mouth as often as possible.
While this is happening, don't be surprised when a crystallized minion rises from the ground. There are usually two, and they'll usually spawn after one of Canker's attacks. Expect them during the rushed attack. They are melee based, so you can choose to dodge them a bit and move them further away, or take them down using your favorite weapon.
There is a third minion that Canker spawns. It's usually at the end of its rushed attack that a dog-like creature emerges from the canker and rushes after you. This minion is significantly faster than the other two. So when you see it appear, you'll want to remove it quickly before it closes the range between it and you. You could lose track of the small spheres. The chancre appears when you see this thing flying over you. Make sure you don't dodge an attack on any of them, or you'll find yourself in a world of wounds.
The chancre does not have too many other attacks or patterns. Once you see his first two attacks, keep most of your distance and avoid getting in close. When you defeat him, you will receive Trash, Lumenite Crystals, and then a Slime Vase. You can use the Slime Vessel to create Corrosive Aura, which is a weapon mod that you can attach to a weapon.
