For a Linux user happy to have a new Skype, there is another Windows Phone that will soon be unable to use the app.
Microsoft recently shed light on future plans dedicated to Skype, revealing the intention of wanting abandon the old peer-to-peer model to hug one much more cloud-centered structure, thus renewing platforms and infrastructures.
And, as always in these cases, a renovation it also means the abandonment of "legacy" platforms - a nice way to say in disuse:

Translated into practical terms, in next months Skype for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 it will disappear entirely, leaving users of those platforms unable to use Microsoft's VoIP client. Also goodbye to support for older versions of Android and iOS.
As we read from the Skype blog, the application will continue to exist for the operating systems Windows 7, 8.1 and Vista, Yosemite, iOS 8 and Android 4.03, as well as to the most recent versions of each category of system.
Clearly all the most modern versions of the aforementioned operating systems will continue to exist and, for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile, will be available aUniversal app.
