One of the Fortnite Weekly Challenges for Chapter 2 Season 3 Week 5 involves using a Firefly pot or flare in Misty Meadows. Misty Meadows is easy to find, as it's a name located on the map, but finding a Firefly Jar or Flare Gun can be a bit more of a nuisance.
After spending a few matches in Misty Meadows and looting everything we could find, it's much easier to find Flares here than Firefly Jars.
How to Get a Firefly Pot |
The main way to find Fireflies is to keep your eyes open while browsing the map and playing the game. Fireflies can randomly spawn near trees and campfires, and you should be able to spot them as they will give off a soft warm glow on the surrounding area.
When you find them run and interact with them and you'll grab them in the air and create a Firefly pot. You can throw the Firefly jars at enemies or structures. If you hit another player with it, it will do 40 damage to them, then deal tick damage if it stays in the flames. They will also set structures on fire and may eventually burn down a building or an opponent's hut.
How to get a Flare Gun
You can get the Flare from Loot Chests, Llamas, Supply Drops, or it can just randomly spawn on the ground, just like any other weapon in the game. The Flare will do 60 damage to an enemy if you hit it. It has six hits when you pick it up and it will take 1,5 seconds to reload between hits. Interestingly, when you fire the last shot, the gun will disappear from your inventory, so it looks like there won't be any additional ammo for the guns.
The projectile itself is quite slow, so it should be fairly easy to dodge, but it appears to have a blast ray when it explodes. It also doesn't seem to set the cover on fire, so you won't really be able to clear enemy box builds as it will take too long to remove the cover.
You only need to use the items in this area, the challenges didn't require you to deal damage to an opponent with them.
