It cannot remain unspoken: Plink is a child. What this boy is doing in the Crater competition this year is beyond us, but according to Rocket Arena Lore, he's also a RocketBot repairman (boy). If he's savvy enough to do so, it's not a big step forward considering that he could be a competitor as well. And what a competitor he is! Plink is a great character to play, especially for people who are just getting into the action. It's easy to learn and effective, but it also has surprising depth.
Maximum Plink Performance
Plink is primarily designed for close combat - his arsenal can quickly reduce distance and wreak havoc. He can still do damage from afar, but you're going to want to get in and out with Plink and repair the damage in a short period of time, then get out of there before he's knocked out. He's a great character to play offensively with while surviving most skirmishes. It helps that he has the tools to do so.
- Scrap Rockets
- Plink's primary rockets. They move with precision and have a referencing feature so you might be tempted to use them from a distance, but they move slowly. They are, however, exceptionally good when faced with someone else. You have fifteen shots per clip and can shoot them quickly. At close range this can do a lot of damage quickly and since they have a rally feature your enemies will have a hard time escaping.
- Skeddadle Ball
- Plink's special ability. This is where Plink really shines. The Skeddadle Ball is a projectile that Plink can throw at people to do a bit of damage, but it's best used for its teleportation abilities. As long as you haven't thrown the ball out of the arena, you have 15 seconds to teleport to the ball after throwing it. If the bullet is near an enemy, it will catch them with a big hit and do a fair bit of damage. You can also easily use the Skeddadle Ball to disorient your enemies, get in a better position, or get out of a hairy situation when you need to.
- Boomerang
- Secondary ability of Plink. It doesn't have the longest range, but the Boomerang makes up for that by being able to do a fair amount of damage and having a quick cool-down (only around four seconds). You can also use the Boomerang to hit your opponents twice if you shoot it the right distance, as it can connect again on return. To do this, however, you'll want to shoot it from a medium range.
Strategies for Knockout / RocketBot Attack
Plink is a great offensive character. Despite his obvious childhood, he can be quite effective in these modes, especially with his ability to deal damage and escape. You want to get knockouts, but you also don't want to sacrifice yourself and give your opponents points. Use the Skeddadle Ball for both offense and defense and Plink can turn the tide in the round of XNUMX.
Strategies for Rocketball
Plink can't teleport when he's got the ball, but he's a fast enough character that he can be an effective running back in this mode if no one else is available. However, he excels in defense. He can easily bypass enemies and prevent them from marking with his teleport ability. Use it to disorient your opponents and distract while the rest of your team carries the ball towards the goal and you will be golden.
Strategies for Mega Rocket
Plink is arguably your best bet for a Mega Rocket round. He can hold his own on offense while staying alive and can move quickly around the map with his Skeddadle Ball. The Skeddadle Ball can be especially good when your opponents are regrouping in the missile area and you want to both get there fast and deal good damage.
Treasure hunting strategies
Plink can do very well in a game of Treasure Hunt, but the mode doesn't play as efficiently as possible with all of its might. Holding the treasure chest eliminates its Skeddadle Ball ability, and the matches move so chaotically that it can be difficult to track and teleport effectively. If you can, however, it can be great to use as a bodyguard. Teleporting, unfortunately, doesn't really help with picking up coins and might confuse you more than anyone else.
Nonetheless, Plink is an exceptional character to play. If you find yourself dying left and right, Plink is a great character to switch to. He's a resilient little kid and has a great arsenal to boot.
