How to get the beta among us
To get the beta of Among Us, follow these steps.
- Find among us in your Steam library.
- Right click on the game.
- Select Properties and go to the Betas tab.
- Open the drop-down menu and select public-beta.
- The update download will start automatically.
You can only get the beta update on PC. Mobile gamers on iOS and Android will have to wait for Innersloth to release an official patch with these features. Also, if you are playing on PC through the BlueStacks emulator instead of Steam, that also won't work because you are technically playing the mobile version of the game and not the native PC version.
What does the beta add?
Here are all the new features and changes in the Among Us beta update.
- Anonymous votes
- You can now choose to make the vote anonymous in order to hide everyone's votes. This way no one will know who voted for whom in a meeting.
- Updates to the taskbar
- You can now change when the taskbar appears during a game. “Always” is the default setting, but you can now select “Meetings” and “Never” to have the taskbar only appear during meetings or never be visible at all.
- Support for color blind
- The Son task has been made more accessible to color blind players. Now each wire has a shape that matches its color to help color blind players accomplish this task more easily.
Anonymous voting helps make discussions more interesting by giving Impostors a way to take people down without appearing suspicious, and crew members will need to communicate more effectively than ever. Taskbar settings can also make things easier for imposters and harder for crew members, further increasing the strain. Finally, support for color blind is one of the most requested features of the game, and while the game hasn't received a complete overhaul to help color blind, the dreaded task of sons now includes symbols to help people who have problems with it.
