Arena mode is arguably the most popular section of FortniteMatchmaking in 2020. Even if you are not the most competitive person, there is always fun playing against players of similar skills and earning better ranks. However, many find it difficult to reach that next rank because they don't earn enough Hype Points.
How Hype Points Work in Fortnite
Hype Points are the currency of Arena mode in Fortnite. Almost every action you take in an Arena match positively or negatively affects your Hype Score. You can find out how many points you have lost or won by looking at the bottom of your screen during a match.
Essentially, the more successful you are in an Arena match, the more Hype Points you earn. Placing well and getting eliminations are the two ways Hype is won. So if you are looking to increase divisions quickly, you need to develop a strategy on how you want to play each arena match.

This is especially important because in most divisions you have to pay for a bus ticket. This means you start with a negative amount of Hype just to join the game.
Of course, landing in a safe place means you'll likely live longer. It also means you're more likely to get a good set of weapons and a fair amount of shields and meds. Once you have had enough you can start maneuvering around the outer edge of the safe zone as most of the fighting happens towards the middle of the circle.
If you are an aggressive gamer, you can definitely keep killing. However, playing a little more passive than usual will increase the likelihood of holding onto your Hype Points. You want to try and break your Hype every game so you don't fall back into the division.
Earning more Hype Points in Fortnite is all about making smart decisions. If you can find a balance between chasing after killing and staying alive for a long period of time, you'll find yourself earning more Hype Points and progressing through Divisions faster.
