When you first upgrade your humble tent to a beautiful home, you will have the option of choosing a roof color. If you pick the wrong one or just get tired of it over time, you might be wondering if you can change it. The good news is, yes, you can change the color of the roof. The bad news is, it's a bit complicated.
There are actually two ways to change the color of your roof in the game. The first is to pay off your entire house loan to Tom Nook. To do this you will need a lot of Bells, 98 in fact. Bells can be earned by selling items to Timmy Nook, and it's actually quite easy to make a lot of money just by bringing all the items you don't need to the store and selling them.
To pay a portion of your charge, go to the kiosk in the Resident Services tent, then select the ABD option. Select Loan Repayments, then pay as much as you want. Keep doing this until the load is gone and you can talk to Tom Nook about expanding your house. When you do this, you can also change the color of the roof.
You can also upgrade Resident Services, and when you do, you can ask Tom Nook to customize your home, and you can choose a new roof color and even a new color for your mailbox.
