The fifth Desperados III mission, "The Magnificent Five", is the first time you've gone out without the main protagonist, Connor. It is also the first mission which really increases the difficulty. You'll have to play this one a few times to get each badge, but it's a welcome challenge, especially since this level gives you plenty of new tools to play.
McCoy will have access to his swamp gas vial in this mission, and Hector will finally be able to use his shotgun. More importantly, this mission introduces torches and oil puddles. As you've probably guessed, they combine well enough to take down large groups of enemies. You have to keep in mind that carrying a torch will make you visible in an enemy's non-solid cone of vision even while crouching, so it's not always a good idea to run with just one. One of the more difficult badges to obtain requires you to complete the mission without using a torch.
End of the final showdown without torch
Most of the mission can be accomplished straight away without using the good old torch and oil stuff. It will take longer and require you to be more methodical in killing the five long coats that you will need to remove after saving Hector, but this is the final showdown where things get really tough. In the last step of the mission, the area seen above will be filled with enemies and flooded with oil. Beating the mission normally is just a matter of properly placed torch throwing. To do this without a torch, you will first need to select as many people on the outskirts of the main shootout. Use McCoy's pistol liberally here: there is enough gunfire that the sound doesn't always alarm other enemies, and there is no reason to save ammo. Once you've lowered the number of enemies, it's time to position Hector so that he can take out as many people as he can with one shotgun blast. You don't have to kill every person on the stage, just enough to trigger the final cutscene. Make sure you save up before you throw in the guns in case you need to go back and pull out a few other stragglers first.
Burn 15 guards in oil puddles
You will have to plan to get this badge as there are not enough guards who routinely walk through the oil puddles to do so in the normal course of the mission. The key here is to tie up some people and save them for an open puddle. At first - when you only control McCoy - it's pretty easy to knock a number of morons unconscious. Once you get a good number, the easiest oil puddle to reach is the one in the lower right corner of the map (as shown above). You can drag people here along the bottom of the map and pick them up on the wooden walkway to get them into position. Once you've had enough, turn them on and collect your badge.
Winning the bet with Hector and McCoy
This badge will also require you to restart the mission. After Hector and McCoy's reunion, they'll bet a bottle of whiskey on who can kill the most people. On each kill, the character will mention the number they are in, so keep track of what they say. If you play balanced, there's a good chance they'll be roughly equal by the end of the mission. Pick who you want to win the bet to throw the torch into the final oil puddle, rinse, then repeat the process with the other character.
- Kill all long coats.

- Don't save during the mission.
- Speedrun: Complete the mission in under 17:00 p.m.
- Complete the mission on Hard difficulty.
