1) Backup with Google Drive
Already signed into Google on your Android smartphone? Perfect, then your data is automatically backed up to Google Drive.
Want to make sure? Go to Settings> Google> Backup. There should be the voice Backup to Google Drive with the selector turned on.
To perform a manual backup, tap Copy now. You can also check what's already backed up by simply tapping Backup from (your smartphone's name) . Here you should see the date your application data, SMS, device settings, call history, and contacts were backed up.

Now choose whether you want to back up to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or even to the mobile itself. If you choose local backup, you can select the precise location of the backup.

SMS Backup & Restore can also be used to schedule automatic backups, repeating them every hour, day or week. This feature is especially useful, as you can set it once and then forget about it, knowing that your messages will be safely backed up.
If you want to create or modify a schedule, go to the main screen of the application and tap the Set up a backup item. Once you've selected how often to back them up and where to back them up to, the app will schedule the task. And when you need to restore them, open the menu on the left and tap Restore to import the backup file.

3) SMS Organizer
If you want a complete app for messages and their backup, SMS Organizer is for you. The interesting aspect of this app is that you can categorize messages into four sections: personal, transactions, promotions, and favorites.
To start backing up your messages, click on the menu with the three vertical dots in the top right corner and go to Settings> Backup and Restore. From here you can link your Google Drive account and back up or restore your mobile device on demand.
You can also change the frequency of automatic backups by selecting Automatic backup. This way, you can choose between manual backups or daily, weekly, or monthly backups.
When you want to transfer text messages to a new mobile device, all you have to do is download the SMS Organizer application on the new smartphone, enter your Google account, and press Restore.
