For more than a year now, we have been aware of the fact that Google Play Music his days were numbered. His metaphorical death had even been officially announced but now it is really (but really, friends) real. Google ditched the app on Android and the web at the end of October and now has definitely closed its doors.
Google Play Music: Goodbye, dear friend, it was good
If you open the Android app now you will be greeted by one white screen with logo of Play Music that you turns in that of YouTube Music. Bold text indicates that Google Play Music is no longer available and explains that you can transfer the entire library to YouTube Music.
There are also below two buttons, one for start the transfer process and another for manage data. The latter takes you to the GPM site where you can download and delete your complete library and also clear the advice history. Once finished, iThe app widget should disappear by itself from the home screen - in case you added it there.
It is a clinical, irreversible death. While it didn't affect everyone right away, now Play Music seems to be dead for everyone.

What Google hasn't thought of is an easy way to manage data stored locally on the phone. If by any chance you have downloaded music for offline listening, that data will now still take up space on your phone. So, the only way to get rid of them is to uninstall the app, or touch and hold the app icon in the drawer, go to App Info and then select Storage.
There you should be able to clear the GPM cache and offline music.
