Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut review: a breath of fresh air
In the our Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut review we do not want to dwell too much on the details relating to the plot or gameplay of the first act (for which we refer you to our basic review), but we want to focus in particular on the changes and news.
Among the more important additional content, we surely find the new one espansione Iki Island. This is additional content from the narrative weight of an act approx (we are around 6/7 hours, but it depends on your way of playing). On the island of Iki we will face a new interesting enemy, Eagle, which will give Khtun Khan a hard time. The villan of the basic version is a majestic and well-narrated, structured and stimulating character, is Aquila up to it? Absolutely yes, the khan woman is no exception. This is a very intriguing enemy, particularly for his being one shaman. This, however, should not scare you: the title, in fact, has not completely changed course on the supernatural side. Although, in fact, there are elements a little more than "simply earthy", the game remains tied to the story and to the "truth".
face the new expansion, it is not necessary to have finished the title, but it is not a problem if you have. You can access the island of Iki at the beginning of the second act. So, you can decide to venture there directly, or wait for the deadline and face it at the end. Not a big problem at the level gameplay, which remains proportionate whether you are facing it as a neophyte, or whether you are venturing into it at the end of your adventure. The enemies will always be balanced and ready to give you a hard time.
Iki Island is also a very different place from Tsushima and very far from the creed of the Samurai. It is an island rich in pirates and smugglers.
What else does Iki Island tell us?
Iki Islando, however, is not just a new enemy; there Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut's new expansion also tells a deep story linked to Jin's past. In particular, the developers have decided to focus on the most troubled moments that led to the birth of the protagonist as we know him. In the base game, we got to taste some moments from Jin's childhood, but on this new occasion we will deepen some wait and we will relive some trauma which allowed the young man to become a Samurai.
In the our Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut review, we also tried to investigate the issue related to new weapons or gameplay changes. Iki Island does not foresee the arrival of new particular weapons (although it contains a new set of armor), but it does introduce some small innovations. In particular, we will see a small update to our dear four-legged companion. The our horse, in fact, it will undergo some upgrades, such as the possibility of having an armor e charge.
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut review: what changes on PlayStation 5?
La our review of Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut could only end with the news for the next gen. The title, in fact, has some features that will be usable only by the owners of PlayStation 5. Among the perhaps more "obvious" novelties, we find one dynamic resolution in 4K and 60 FPS. Ghost of Tsushima wants to show itself in all its glory and how not to seize this opportunity. Furthermore, thanks to the potential of the hardware of the newcomer to Sony, the loading times between one scene and another are also reduced.
Another novelty is the introduction of the Japanese lyp-syncing and the general improvement of 3D audio. Also thanks to the great capabilities of the next gen console, the developers were able to focus on the simultaneity of voices and scenes, thus offering the perfect synchronism between words and the movement of the lips. Certainly an interesting detail that further enhances a narrative that is already very engaging in itself. L’audio 3Din addition, it greatly improves thegaming experience, offering total immersion. Finally we can savor the wind "in your hands" and hear the noise from one direction to another. This, however, not only thanks to the 3D audio, but also thanks to the functionality of the new Dualense. THE adaptive triggers and haptic feedback new PS5 controllers have made it possible to create a masterpiece.
For me, who am almost completely alien to this world, it was a very engaging feeling. Feeling the horse's hooves entering the ground making the controller shake with the same cadence, being able to feel the reaction force of an enemy attack, feeling the wind move in your hands, were among the most sensational things. A truly excellent technical work, which I might not have expected to see. Also there attention to detail, colors, lights and shadows they are exceptional. All the script, the landscapes, thesetting is something fantastic. The pleasure, then, of seeing it in 4K, is to be experienced. Watching Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is a feast for the eyes.
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut: is that a yes?
For us Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is absolutely a yes on all fronts. We suggest the title first of all a newbies who now have the opportunity to rediscover a real gem in its best form. The purchase on PlayStation 5 is "almost" a must. The story is intense, the dialogues treated, the voices and the interpretations beautiful. Excellent scenography that brings us back to the world of the Samurai. The updates on Playstation 5 are incredible and they deserve to be experienced even by those who have already played it. In addition, Iki Island is definitely a new adventure to try. Don't miss it!
