The “Facebook Virus” phenomenon is becoming one of the biggest concerns for users who love social blue. Given the large catchment area present on this social network, criminals have concentrated on creating deceptive links, advertising with traps and games with malware included.
If you've run into a Facebook virus, don't worry: in this guide we will show you how to clean up your PC and how to avoid future infections with the right tools.
Virus Facebook
Pulitura browser
If the virus has infected your browser, just delete your profile on Chrome and Firefox to get everything back to normal. In these cases, the sooner you act, the sooner you avoid ugly surprises.
To reset your profile on Google Chrome on Windows just reach the following path.
% LOCALAPPDATA% GoogleChromeUser Data
Locate the “Default” subfolder in the folder and / or (in the case of an assigned profile) the subfolders with the name “Profile”.
We delete the folders to eliminate any traces of infected profiles. Upon restart, Chrome will recreate a new Default folder with all Chrome settings reset.
For Firefox, on the other hand, it is sufficient to open the profile manager using the command (which can be launched from WIN + R).
firefox -p
Delete old profiles with the button Eliminate profilo and restart with a new clean profile using the key Create profile.
NOTE: : if you do not have profiles synchronized with your Google account or with your Firefox account, you will lose the bookmarks, history and extensions installed on the browsers.
Remove Facebook apps and games
If the threat came through a Facebook app or game, we can remove all traces of the added app or scam game by following the official procedure recommended by Facebook itself.
