The life path you choose in Cyberpunk 2077 determines your character's background and where they're from. It provides your character's initial motivations and identifies where they got their first experiences. These personal experiences give you additional dialogue options to use during quests that you might not have had without this start. The Nomad lifestyle begins in the Badlands, a place outside of town that you can visit even if you don't choose to start here with your character. As a member of a Nomad Pack, you grew up outside of Night City and you have no idea beyond the stories and rumors of what it's like to live in such a vast and sprawling metropolis. The stories are just fantasies for your character, where your little group of lowlifes did all you could to get by.
The Nomad prologue begins when your character decides to leave your Nomad tribe and you head to Night City. You reach the border walls of the metropolis to speak to Jackie Welles, who you pick up to help get a package past border security. As security pulls you away into an interrogation room to sort things out, you have your bribe ready and things are sorted out for you and Jackie to gain access to the room. city.
Living outside of the traditional nomadic lifestyle will be difficult for your character, and you might find yourself learning a lot the hard way. Because you grew up outside of town, expect to have a lot to learn about new manners, cultural expectations, and who is the best dog in each area. To get to Night City, it will be sink or swim, and swimming is the only way to stay alive.
