Every UFC fighter is different, and every Octagon contender has a fighting style that matches that person's experience. UFC fighters come from all walks of life, as many of those involved in the organization are fighters trained in jiu-jitsu. Others, on the other hand, were amateur boxers and wrestlers before heading to the Octagon.
And as you would expect, each of these backgrounds affects how a fighter competes. A wrestler, for example, would be good at tackling and attempting to put his opponents in submissive holds. A boxer, on the other hand, might not be as polished in the grappling hook category as a wrestler, but would be better at hitting.
In UFC 4's career mode, players can choose from several types of fights, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. These styles are based on a fighter's background and there are several of them. Here are all of the different types of fights available in UFC 4:

Keep a few other details in mind when creating your character in UFC 4's Career Mode. First, these star ratings are predefined layouts that your character will start with. These ratings can be improved over time as you progress in your character.
Second, you can also choose to equip your character with special “perks,” or special abilities, during the process of choosing which fighting style to use. These special abilities can give your fighter a competitive edge in some aspect of combat. For example, the "Laser Focus" perk, when equipped, adds speed and accuracy to your fighter's punches. The perks available to your character depend on the fighting style you choose.
