Battlegrounds received a huge update today, with an influx
new minions and heroes.
The 7 new heroes in Battlegrounds are all dragons, and
potentially powerful if their abilities are anything to go by. Take a
take a quick look at them.
Galakrond
Hero Power: Galakrond's Greed. 1 mana, replace a minion in Bob's Tavern with a minion from a higher Tavern level.
Although a little too similar to Toki in my opinion, it's fair
a solid all-rounder Hero Power that can give you a head start in the early game.
Death wing
Hero Power: ALL will burn! Passive, ALL minions have +3
attack.
In my experience this one is a bit weak
side. This can be strong if you have a good spinoff strategy, but really
you pigeonholes in exactly that, lest your very choice of hero be right
nothing but a buff for your opponents, or at best a wash.
Ysera
Hero Power: Dream Portal. 1 mana, refresh Bob's Tavern and
add a dragon.
This is a very consistent hero power if you want to force the dragons
at any time. This is especially good when you get bupkis
normal roles and desperately are about all you can use.
Nozdormu
Hero Power: Clairvoyance. Passive, your first refresh every turn
costs 0.
It's a great idea, especially early in the game. This means that you
can actually re-roll turn 1 and still buy a minion, and it's easier to fish
later. It's not very flashy, but it will definitely be solid at all times
on time.
Malygos
Hero Power: Arcane Alteration. 0 mana, replace a minion with
a random of the same Tavern level.
This ability is potentially useful when you have nothing good
goes for you. There are also potential shenanigans available with token-y.
built, especially at the beginning. Turn your Murloc token into a true servant
(which at worst will break even) is not bad at all. It is definitely
falls later, however.
Alexstrasza
Hero Power: Queen of Dragons. Passive, when you switch to
Level 5 tavern, discover two dragons.
It's spicy. On the one hand, it's a kind of
Note the ability: this essentially requires you to try out the dragons early on. But it's
a huge power spike and an incentive to upgrade if you do. At worst, at least
that's two free gold when you reach level 5.
Reno Jackson
Hero Power: Gonna Be Rich! 4 mana, make a friendly Golden minion
(once per game).
Last but not least, our juvenile blue dragon buddy gets a
whopper of a Hero Power. Insure a key gold minion on demand, even if once
per game, is a bit crazy, especially with some of the more powerful options
over there.
Finally, it should be noted that Professor Putricide is
withdrawn while undergoing a recovery. Hopefully when he comes back he can stack
up to these heroes, because most of them look very promising.
