We are talking about a very powerful machine, equipped with a processor Intel i9 10900K, RTX 3080 MSI Wind, 128 GB di RAM and two 1TB NVMe SSDs.

A spatial look, not for everyone and not for everyone

The first thing that catches your eye is certainly the look of this computer that seems to come from the future. In our Aegis Ti5 review a first aesthetic impression could certainly not be missing. It is from here, in fact, that we want to start to tell you about our sensations.

The aesthetic part is a very important component, especially in the purchase of a pre-assembled. Often, in fact, one desktop is discriminated against rather than another, precisely because of a form factor. L'Aegis Ti5, with this look that looks like something out of a Terminator movie, makes a lot of talk about itself. We like this computer very much: it is bulky, perhaps even “tamarro”, yet we could not find a defect from the pure point of view of the image. Tastes, however, are not discussed, and we are sure that this is not a computer for everyone. Aegis Ti5: review - The Transformers with the RTX 3080 is ready

From an objective point of view, we find a quite bulky midtower, rich in RGB LED colors. The base consists of an illuminated cylinder which does not allow any movement. It is pure and simple aesthetics. At the top we find a semi-transparent plastic panel allowing admire the RTX 3080 in all its beauty. The front part, on the other hand, in addition to being the seat of the logo and two fully illuminated strips, it also includes a nice crank. This one features a small screen with animated wallpaper which allows you to manage some functions, such as Mystic light and multimedia functions.

More could be done with materials

Unfortunately, one thing that didn't particularly impress us was there choice of materials. While reviewing the Aegis Ti5, we dwelt a bit on this point. We did it because it is not a cheap PC, but a machine worth more than 4000 €. Although the structure looks solid and sturdy (and pretty heavy too), most of it is made of plastic. The side panels are and the “headphone flaps” are. Just as they are all parts shiny and transparent. We have no particular metals or tempered glass. If we were to blame MSI for a defect, it would certainly be this: a computer with such a high cost should have a bit more "full-bodied" materials. Aegis Ti5: how is it made?

A little look should also be given toinside of our Aegis Ti5 from MSI. The computer has a motherboard Z490 Micro ATX mounted "upside down". By opening the side panels, in fact, we will find the processor in lower part and the video card in the upper one, with the fans facing up.

La CPU is cooled by a 240mm liquid cooler which is fixed in the right part of the structure. In fact, in order to access the innermost parts, the radiator must be completely removed. Once extracted, we will find our 4 RAM, without a cover and the CPU block of the heatsink.

By removing the other panel, however, we find a metal cover on which the motherboard is fixed, a small fan for cooling the area behind the processor and a HUB connector for the fans. Be careful when removing the side panels which are connected with a cable to the motherboard.

Connectivity

As for connectivity, the MSI home computer offers, in the front, two 3.2 USB ports Gen 1 Type-A (5 Gbps), one port USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (10 Gbps) and headphone and microphone jack.

The motherboard, on the other hand, is home to four port USB 3.2 Gen 2 (three type A and one type C), one door Thunderbolt 3, USB 2.0 legacy and a PS / 2 port. Then there are audio inputs, including a surround jack, line-in, line-out, microphone and S / PDIF digital audio output. The door HDMI is disabled, is replaced by the HDMI della GeForce RTX 3080 and the three video outputs DisplayPort.

Finally we have the jack Ethernet da 1 Gbps and 2,5 Gbps for wired networking, while an integrated Intel AX201 card provides Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 wireless.

Performance can be seen on the pitch

Having overcome the step of design, which we reiterate to be a pro for us (but tastes are not discussed), it is time to go into more detail. Because, however majestic it may seem, it is on the field that the potential is discusseda of a computer. In our review of Aegis Ti5 equipped with an RTX 3080, we decided to push the accelerator a little bit, testing the pre-assembled to the best and comparing it with our usual configuration.

Recall that the computer is equipped with a processor i9 10900K, a video card NVIDIA GeForce MSI RTX 3080 Wind 128 GB of RAM (@ 2933 MHz). All mounted on a motherboard MSI Z490 Micro ATX. Its performance was directly compared with our usual configuration consisting of: i7 8700K, MSI RTX 2060 Super, 32 GB in RAM (3200 MHz).

MSI Aegis Ti5: did we like it?

Il pre-assembled MSI Aegis Ti5 is truly phenomenal. Performance proved to be excellent on all fronts. Perfect on the gaming side, excellent in rendering and editing. It is a machine of excellent quality, capable of bringing home exceptional results.

The appearance is refined and, of course, it is not for everyone. It is a futuristic design, bulky, not suitable for all workstations, but certainly not anonymous. We liked it very much. L'combined real flaw, given the price (more than 4000 €), it is the constructive quality. Don't get us wrong, the computer is solid and stable, but we would have expected something more, some premium material. Instead, we find a lot of plastic and a considerable weight. If we have to find a negative side, this must be emphasized.

Overall, however, we had an excellent product in our hands that always performed very well. It reacted perfectly to our stress tests, showing no signs of abating. All in all, the air-flow wasn't that bad either, and indeed, the computer maintained average temperatures.
