The Witcher Old World, the independent board game inspired by the world of The Witcher, has already hit the mark € 2 million on Kickstarter. The impressive thing is that the game reached this milestone in just two days, thanks to a plethora of over 22.000 supporters.
The Witcher Old Wolrd: an announced success
The Go On Board guys have literally hit the jackpot on Kickstarter, thanks to the board game they created The Witcher Old World, which in just two days raised the beauty of 2 million euros from more than Supporters 22.000. For the moment, the project can be considered an absolute success, if we consider that the initial request of the team was "only" 250.000 euros and that the fundraising will last for another 16 days.
That the initiative could be successful was predictable, on the other hand that of The Witcher is a much loved saga all over the world, but such a bombastic result in a short time literally leaves you speechless. Old World is set before the Geralt of Rivia saga and is therefore configured as a full-fledged prequel.
The game can be played by five players at the same time, one for each school of Witcher, who will explore a kingdom full of monsters, magic and dangers hidden around every corner. Eventually it will also be possible to challenge other users to a duel, or collaborate to defeat the Wild Hunt.
The actions of the Witchers that we will impersonate will be determined by a mazzo di carte, with attacks, dodges and the traditional signs of The Witcher. In pure board game style, the cards can be used in combos with each other, to bring out their full potential. The game is scheduled for release in 2022 with an Italian localization as well.

In the last few years, the tendency to create tabletop transpositions of the most successful video games is increasingly present on the market, and on more than one occasion we have come across truly remarkable products. The game mechanics of these works are becoming progressively more and more complex, creating playful experiences in some way similar to their virtual counterparts.
One of the most interesting titles on the market right now is undoubtedly the board game of bloodborne, born from the mind of Eric M. Lang, former author of Call of Cthulhu. The title supports up to 5 players and from the point of view of the mechanics it approaches a sort of dungeon crawler, in which we will have to face several waves of enemies up to the final boss.
Just like in the original version of the game, our character can be enhanced through the use of blood echoes, which we can lose if we are not careful enough. The Bloodborne board game convinces both from a playful and artistic point of view and is characterized by a strong replayability. Ideal for evenings with friends.
Still to stay on the horror theme, another noteworthy board game is the one dedicated to Resident Evil 2, created by Steamforged Games. Unfortunately, this game is only available in English (a version of the manual localized in Italian is present on the official website) and supports up to 4 players, who will embark on a real survival adventure similar to the first chapters of Resident Evil.
The title therefore proposes to to restore the typical atmospheres of the first years of survival in analog format and does it quite well, at the cost of a rather low replay value.
Ultimately it is impossible not to mention the Dark Souls board game, one of the best cared for products in recent years. This board game is the perfect transposition of the playful experience of Dark Souls on paper: you lose a lot and do it often, but there is always the desire to start again to redeem your lost souls.
Particularly noteworthy are the figurines of the characters, maniacally curated and perfectly faithful to their digital counterparts. It is no coincidence that it is one of the best-selling board games of recent years and that sold out shortly after its official launch.
