Google Maps announced that the new feature Insights is being updated and may soon be available to everyone. Let's find out all the details together.
Google Maps Insights updates
Google Maps keeps track of yours daily timeline. While its level of accuracy may seem a little too invasive, it turns out to be an excellent tool for monitor holidays, road trips and any another trip. The section Timeline is getting some changes, along with a couple of new features that will help you keep track of your business on an even more precise level.
The new Insights tab now appears to be in distribution to multiple users.
Insights is part of Timeline, the section where you keep track of yours trips in a given period. It keeps an eye on your travel arrangements - walking, driving in a car, taking a plane - and tracks your movement from month to month. You can compare your activities using i bar graphs to the right of each item.
It's a quick way to see how much you are actually moving during the month, without having to rely on fitness apps that only keep an eye on walking or cycling.
Insights is not only able to track the way you are moving but can also keep an eye on it the places visited. Google uses its vast knowledge of places to learn where you spend most of your time. As a result, the Insights tab works as one statistics page for what you have done in your spare time.
UI and design updates
The rest of the new UI has undergone some minor design changes. For example, among the items there is less white space to be able to view more information on a single screen. It's also a lot easier to edit the timeline now, thanks to a new one button.
You will also notice the new tab Travel, announced for the first time last December, alongside the other rumors.
Overall, it's a promising improvement for something on which many users rely on for monitoring. It is unknown when Insights and the redesigned interface of the timeline will be available for everyone or i know at the moment I'm just in testing. In any case, we will keep you updated.
