If there's one thing the FIFA series has been successful in, it implements new features and modes in every version. This fact remains true when it comes to online options.
Previous years have seen the likes of The Journey, FIFA's story mode following the career start of fictional striker Alex Hunter, arrives FIFA 17. The integration of the Champions League into the game for game modes and career last year. Ultimate Team also had its introduction 10 years ago in FIFA 09, and EA has been building on the foundation ever since.
While this year's progress is a bit more gradual, there are still some new features in the game that improve the overall experience.
Here are the top three noteworthy new features of FIFA 20:
VOLTA
Prior to this year's game, the representation of street football, known around the world as FUTSAL, had limited representation. Because the game is as much about style, talent and personality as it is ball skills and tactics. The difficulty in getting that balance, along with the licenses, meant that if you wanted to play street football, you had to find an Xbox 360 or a PS3 to be able to play the latest edition of. rue de FIFA from 2012. Even this does not represent FUTSAL exceptionally well.
It is a booming sport in sports and EA has appealed to give it the visibility it needs to bring the game to a wider audience. Named VOLTA, the mode introduces street football to players the way it is meant to be played.
VOLTA offers an authentic experience for an online multiplayer option and a story mode. It's a great addition to this year FIFA and offers a fresh take on a football game that has otherwise started to stagnate with the next generation of consoles.
These types of features tend to be unique to EA, but hopefully the mode becomes popular enough to become a permanent fixture in the series.
Ultimate Team Season Rewards
Anyone who has played a FIFA game in the past ten years will know what Ultimate Team is. It's a mode where you can build the team of your dreams using maps that allow you to bring together players from all over the world in all the major leagues.
However, over the past few years, the gaming community has complained that it is too difficult to build a team of their own using the rewards system. Many could not do this effectively without spending real money on purchasing player card packs. Even when they did, the speed at which top players fell through towers was too low.
EA has consistently addressed this issue over the past few years, offering more and more reward options in Ultimate Team modes, whether single or multiplayer. This year is probably the most popular addition to the seasonal rewards.
Similar to the Battle Pass mechanic in Live Service games, Season Rewards offers XP for playing games and completing goals to improve your profile for the season. Level up and you'll be rewarded with player packs, top player card loans, and coins to spend. The higher you get, the better the rewards.
The best part is, it's part of the game mode, with no additional costs to include in the season. Not all rewards are marketable, but it does fill your collection up and allow you to complete more builders.
Those Free to Play gamers looking for a reason to go back, this is currently as good as it gets.
Career mode Player interaction and morale
This year's Career Mode has garnered a bit of attention, but it's still pretty much the same as last year.
However, EA has introduced a new feature that relates to player interaction, morale, and how it affects form.
Like players of the past, players in good shape will see their stats improve. Player morale this year also contributes to this. By saying the right things in press conferences and interviews before and after the game, you can boost player morale. Not only does your player's morale help you improve their skills, but also maintain your job security, as not interacting with your players can affect your position on the board.
Player interaction also occurs in this context, with players sending texts that you can respond to and affect morale. In turn, their statistics on the ground. It's a simple system, but it means your actions off the pitch can impact your bottom line.
Enjoy the game and its new features.
