Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, mancanza di chakra

The market for gaming titles taken from successful manga and anime it is anything but gaunt. Over the years, we have seen dozens of titles dedicated to Dragon Ball, The attack of the Giants, and so on and so forth.

Particularly Naruto and its sequel are series that lend themselves well to this kind of medium: many characters, a story long and varied enough to allow it to be taken up in several titles, characters who “by default” possess a lot of different techniques and skills.
The latest addition to the Naruto family of games is Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, developed by Soleil Ltd and published by Bandai Namco, per PlayStation 4, PC e Xbox One.

We return to the Leaf Village

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker it is essentially a multiplayer action-rpg title that, narratively speaking, ranks shortly after the start of Boruto.
At the first login the player is invited to create your own character, customizable in appearance, voice and village. At that point he will be catapulted into the Leaf Village: from there he will be able to access all the main functions of the game.

Despite the multiplayer nature of the game, it will still be possible to play single player missions. The latter will be assigned by the various ninja of the village and will be necessary to obtain money, items and level up without being humiliated through online battles. Quite interesting in that sense it is l’Arena VR: an arena where you can relive some of the most iconic battles of the original story. The money earned can then be used to buy special weapons and skills.

We finally arrive at multiplayer online. In this sense you will have two choices: le Quick Games or participate in the World Championship. The Championship is, as you can imagine, a scoring path that resets itself every certain amount of time, in which the goal is to climb the rankings.
During the clashes the player will form teams of up to four players and will be able to take advantage of, in addition to the canonical close-range attacks such as kicks and punches, two ninjutsu, an object of choice and a Supreme Technique. In addition, he will have the possibility to choose between various classes, which will enhance their skills: Defense, Healing, Attack and Distance.
The arenas and the scenarios in general are very well cared for, and can be explored in every part thanks to the possibility of climbing the walls and overcoming crevasses and obstacles thanks to the chakra and the various objects.

But then, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker did he manage to convince us?
Well… not quite, unfortunately.

Some not-so-bright aspects

Let's start with a premise: this title perhaps suffers a little too markedly what is a ruthless legacy, or the series Ultimate Ninja Storm, acclaimed by both critics and fans. Although the titles are different, therefore, it is difficult not to make comparisons.
Shinobi Striker it doesn't have a storyline, in fact, so if you're looking for a game that recreates 100% the clashes and happenings of the Naruto series, well, it's not for you.
But beyond that there are also gods practical flaws.

First of all, the system in matchmaking rather leaves something to be desired. The game does not take into account the level and statistics of the various players, so playing online - especially during the first few games - can happen to be paired with players much stronger than you, which can be extremely frustrating. Same goes for your teammates.
In addition to that, the hitboxes result definitely inaccurate. You understand well that, playing such a title, failing a shot without real reason can result in a bitter defeat and be an additional reason for frustration.

Finally, a note of a slightly more "artistic" tenor. The character we're going to use is customizable, yes, but… well, we won't big choice. Not only that, it will be possible to recognize in the chosen connotations the characteristic features of some of the main characters. More often than not this will make our poor ninja little more than a hodgepodge of existing characters. In short, considering the fact that customization is one of the workhorses of the title, we expected something better.

In conclusion…

What can we tell you more? Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker it is still an enjoyable game, which however, due to some flaws, fails to stand out in the playground dedicated to Naruto. If you love the good Ninja and neo-Hokage of the leaf and the online multiplayer titles, evaluate the purchase. If not, you might want to look elsewhere.
