There is a serious problem in the original app of YouTube for Android devices. The problem is that DON'T allows you to play the video in the "background", that is, while browsing on Android or doing other things. In many situations it would be nice to just “listen” to the video and surf the web at the same time. However, this does not happen because when you switch to another application (from Youtube) or receive a notification, the video stops playing. The question is: how can I listen to music from Youtube videos so that it also works in the background while, for example, browsing with your Android mobile phone or tablet?
uListen it is probably the app that can help you. uListen is an Android application that allows you to "listen" to YouTube videos, and allows you to play music in the background.
When you run uListen for the first time, a blank screen is displayed. It doesn't show any recommendations or playlists. The first thing to do then is to search for the songs / videos you want.
Once you have found the song you want, just select it and it will start playing in the background.
When you slide the music controller from the bottom of the screen, you can set the currently playing song to play in a loop ("Repeat"). You can also add that song to your Favorites for easier retrieval. There is a video icon where you can start the video in the YouTube app.
There is also a controller in the notification screen that allows you to stop / play the music.
The default search mode in uListen is “video”, which means that the search only works for videos. You can set the playlist if you want to search for playlists instead of videos.
Overall uListen is an elegant application that solves the problem of Youtube video playback in the background. Don't expect a nice interface though.
