Checco Zalone came back with a new song a few days ago. The comedian from Bari has published a new music video on his official channels, which recovers some of the elements that led him to success. Titled The Vacinated, this piece is perfectly immersed in the great transformations that our world is going through, but it does not address them in a controversial way, but with absolute lightness. As well as with a truly exceptional guest of honor.

A man approaches a peasant woman by car. He asks her for information to reach a destination to visit. When the woman answers him, he realizes that this has already received the vaccine against COVID-19. And so a funny love story begins, playing on the advanced age of the woman remembered several times with references itchy, but never overly vulgar.
With this new song Checco Zalone is back, in part to its origins. It is a song that refers to a specific style, with a Latin-like sound accompanied by a text in a 'Spanishized' Italian, in which the terms are transformed. An approach that is reminiscent of the one used by the singer in his first appearances at the Zelig, in which he parodied the world of neomelodic music, making fun of his stylistic features.
With his words Zalone creates a funny imagery, portraying this deeply passionate relationship with an elderly woman. They are born like this brilliant verses capable of unleashing laughter such as “I don't care if I find el tu sonriso on my bedside table in the morning” or “miro el tu cuerpo from the film library with the anti-warp from Astrazenèca“. All this while dancing (it should be said) on the border with vulgarity. An approach that has always been strong in the first Zalone, capable of going far enough to unleash laughter but without scandalizing really the family audience.
And to embellish everything there is the perfect choice of Helen Mirren in the title role of La Vacinada. The grace of the legendary British actress provides comic strength to the whole, creating a splendid contrast to the themes of the text. Seeing her accomplice to the active comedian that stereotypes associate with elderly Italians, like crochet, burraco and bowls, is a simple expedient, but one that works precisely because it is a queen of the seventh art to do it.
The importance of having a carefree laugh
A virtue of La Vacinada lies in its touching on a potentially controversial topic, disarming it. Much can be said about the vaccine situation in Italy and more generally about emergency management. Every day on social networks we find endless discussions in this regard, important, but which at the same time can become overwhelming. It is a breath of fresh air to be able to smile at what is happening, without complications.
Let me be clear: this is not meant to be a praise to lightness always and in any case. The events of 2020 (and of this 2021) do not go absolutely belittled and it is still important that art in all its fields reflect on it. Equally key is that you look to the company with critical eye, highlighting the problems and making it their own the task of putting those in duty before their responsibilities.
All this can (and in a certain sense must) also coexist with a lighter entertainment. The last few months have been incredibly trying for many reasons and there is a need to recover even a less stratified vision. It is also this desire that has prompted many to discover the phenomenon LOL - Who laughs is outside, in a search for a laugh without commitment.
The new song by Checco Zalone goes one step further than the broadcast of Amazon Prime Video. In fact, he does not ignore the current situation and even puts it at the center, but avoids focusing on the more complex aspects. An approach that it would be condemned if unique or exaggeratedly widespread. However, once in a while, it fits. On the contrary, it really takes.
