A faction's attitude towards you determines how it treats you in A Total War Saga: Troy. When you have a more positive relationship with a neighboring faction, you may find them willing to agree to trade with you, help you in wars, or not outright attack you. A more negative relationship can mean that you need to remain vigilant at your borders, ready to fend off an impending battle that can strike at the most inopportune moment. You can improve a faction's attitude by working with them without being invited or accepting their requests.
How to know the attitude of a faction
There are two ways to find out the attitude of a faction towards you. There is the "Known Factions" tab at the bottom right of your user interface, the fourth icon above your map. Click on it to display all known factions. Hover over the Armored Soldier icon next to a faction name to see the full breakdown.
The second way is to start negotiations with the faction from the diplomacy page. Click the 7 key on your keyboard to bring it up and find the faction to learn more about how they see you.
Each of the postings breaks down what you did that increased their approval and caused their rebuttal. Approvals can come from attacks or raids on their enemies, past or current treaties with them, trade, treaties or trade with their allies. They will disprove the fact that you are a greater power, attacking their allies or making deals with their enemies.
