Carmageddon is a driving video game, but it is actually much more than just a game. Developed by Stainless Games, published by Interplay e Sales Curve Interactive, the game was released in 1997 for PC.
Also in 1997 comes the expansion Carmageddon: Splat Pack, while in 1998 comes the edition Carmageddon: Max Pack. Much more recent is the our review, a must given that with Carmageddon we spent weeks, if not months, at the time of its launch on the market. The sequel to the game dates back to 1998 and is called Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now.
This video game immediately distinguished itself from others of the same genre, given that it was shortly after its publication controversy raged over violent content and for the blood that the programmers had used in great abundance in the making. They could indeed run over old women, pedestrians, animals and other cars, indeed the goal was precisely to cause as much damage as possible to things or people. Few people know, perhaps, that this racing game is inspired by a film called "Year 2000: The Death Race", a 1975 film in which a very young Sylvester Stallone starred.
To win races, there are three methods:
- invest every pedestrian present in the scenario;
- destroy all opposing cars;
- complete the route by crossing all the checkpoints.
