Considering how easy it is to earn Gil's in Final Fantasy XIV, you'd think that earning MGP - another special in-game currency that you can spend in the Golden Saucer - would be pretty straightforward as well.
However, if you don't know the best ways to earn MGP, it can be quite difficult to earn enough. But once you know where to go and what to do, earning MGP isn't that hard; although it does take a little while.
This guide is designed to show you the most optimal ways to earn MGP, not to show you all of the ways. Apart from these methods, there are still quite a few ways to get change in. These will yield the most MGP in the least amount of time, so let's get started.
Weekly challenges
By far the easiest and one of the best way to maximize MGP gains is to complete your Weekly Challenge Logs. Your logs are divided into four categories: Beast Tribes, Holdbacks, Eureka, and the Golden Saucer.
The Gold Saucer challenges are the ones you'll want to complete to earn MGP and some of them will give you more than others. You can check out all of these challenges and their MGP reward below:
Complete 3 mini-games (1 MGP)
Earn 100 MGP in mini-games (1 MGP)
Take part in 5 GATE (5 MGP)
Successfully complete 3 GATE (8 MGP)
Take part in 3 chocobo races (5 MGP)
Take part in 20 chocobo races (8 MGP)
Play Triple Triad 10 times (5 MGP)
Win 10 triple triad matches (8 MGP)
Play 5 Triple Triad matches in the Battlehall (2 MGP)
Win 3 Triple Triad matches in the Battlehall (3 MGP)
Play Lord of Verminion 1 time (5 MGP)
Play Lord of Verminion 3 time (10 MGP)
Play Lord of Verminion 5 time (12 MGP)
Take part in 2 matches of Doman Mahjong players (5 MGP)
Some are easier to complete, so you'll want to find the ones that work best for the way you play.
Weekly Fashion Report
Image via FinalFantasyXIV.comThis activity takes place in the Golden Saucer and it's not as intimidating as it might sound.
The goal is to find glamor that fits into different categories, like "Do Rats Fly" which refers to the glamorous Sky Rat ensemble. Most reports have you dyeing clothes or buying glamor from vendors. This will earn you 80 points, which will earn you the highest reward.
The MGP reward for the Fashion Report is 60000, and can be increased with the VIP Gold Saucer card or an FC Gold Saucer MPG Boost.
Giant cactpot
Image via ConsoleGamesWiki.comIt is the process with the least possible work to earn MGP. The Jumbo Cactpot is a weekly lottery that is held in the Golden Saucer and you can buy 3 tickets for 100 MGP, with the price increasing by 50 for each ticket.
Tickets are drawn every Saturday and the lowest amount you can win is 1 MGP. But it increases depending on the amount of tickets purchased by all players. Even when there are fewer tickets purchased that week, this is a great way to get an easy income from MGP.
Mini Cactpot
Image via ConsoleGamesWiki.comThis daily event costs 10 MGP to participate and it's a simple game to play:
You will receive a 3 x 3 square with a number revealed. You can choose to reveal 3 more numbers to help you decide which line you are going to scratch on. The sum of the numbers in the row you choose will determine the amount of your reward.
Rewards are not guaranteed, but the risk is low and can even get you up to 10 MGP.
You can participate in the game three times a day.
GATEs (weekly and daily)
GATEs are the equivalent of the Mario Party mini-games in Final Fantasy XIV. They take place every 20 minutes in the Golden Saucer and usually only take a few minutes.
Here are the GATEs you can participate in and the MGP you can earn with them:
Suspense (3000 MGP)
A (4000 MGP)
Act of was (4000 MGP)
Either way the wind is blowing (7500 MGP)
The slice is right (5000 MGP)
These aren't necessarily things you want to do your best, but if you want something to do while you wait for a raid or something to queue up, GATEs are a great option to earn MGP.
Triple triad matches (weekly and daily)
This card game that you can play with FFXIV is easy to play and can get you some good MGP in the process, especially when you complete the weekly challenges.
Image via FinalFantasyXIV.comCompleting only Triple Triad solo matches will net you a minimum of 13 MGP, but tournaments can net you up to 000 MGP. You can just play Jonas of the Tree Spades in the Golden Saucer to eliminate these challenges.
Chocobo races (weekly and daily)
Image via FinalFantasyXIV.comChocbo races can be a lot of fun, although the lag can get bad on some servers. But if you have a good chocobo and can get there a bit first, you'll earn a fair amount of MGP by participating in these races.
We recommend that you at least give this one a try and if you don't enjoy it or aren't proficient enough to place yourself high enough to get the best rewards, just go for one of these other methods.
VIP Gold Saucer card
This consumable will give the player a 2 hour bonus on the amount of MGP you can earn through different tournaments, chocobo races, mini-games, GATE and the two Cactpots. However, it does not include challenge logs.
It's the perfect consumable to complement those other methods and activities you do.
All of these will allow you to earn a MGP and are relatively easy to complete. Some take longer than others, but none of them will take all of your time.
