Missions to find pieces of equipment are branded in the menu as TREASURE HUNT and can be unlocked by finding a piece of armour or documentation showing where to find it. Once you have the armor, however, there is the possibility to upgrade it to multiple levels (3 in total) reaching the upgraded, the higher and the perfect grade.

TREASURE HUNT - Snake School Equipment (2 Swords only)
PLACE: Various points of FRUIT WHITE.
SUGGEST LEVEL : Lv. 6
FULL FEATURES: Experience, Money, Swords, SNAKE SCHOOL Creation Projects.
INFORMATION: The mission is to retrieve the entire equipment from SNAKE's Witcher. Basically you will need to find the 2 projects to create the STEEL SWORD and the Snake'S SILVER SWORD. The projects are located in two different locations, finding one will unlock the location of the other.
Snake's Steel Sword
Go to the question mark circled in yellow that you see in the picture and circumnavigate the destroyed fortress to find some rocks to climb to the top. You'll find some bandits, including one from Lv. 5 with a halberd capable of firing very powerful shots. Once eliminated, search the fortress to find lots of useful objects and the project for the SNAKE STEEL SWORD. Now you will have unlocked the mission, following it in the missions menu will appear the place of the second project.
Silver Sword of the Serpent
This item is located in a catacomb near the mill north of the previous project. In front of the catacomb there is a PLACE OF POWER guarded by a level 7 WRAITH. Use the TRAPPOLA MAGIC sign to hit the Wraith. If you lose half of HP, the spectrum will disappear and you can search the area for clues. Open the door to the catacombs and come down. The Wraith will return and you will have to use the MAGIC TRAPPOLA sign again to defeat it once and for all. Search the catacomb to find lots of useful items and the design for the SNAKE SILVER SPACE.

TREASURE HUNT - Poisonous Viper School Equipment (DLC 1)
Unlike the other sets that need to be found and upgraded in the basic game and reach the final levels with DLC upgrades, the Poison Viper school armor can only be found from the DLC Hearts of Stone and has no upgrade charts.
TREASURE HUNT - Manticore School Equipment (DLC 2)
Like the previous set, the manticore school armor can only be found from the DLC Blood and Wine and has no enhancement diagrams.
What are the best armor of The Witcher 3 ?
CD Projekt has created a choice of weapons and armor really vast within the third chapter of the game dedicated to the squeak. The most powerful armour and weapons, however, are always those related to witcher sets, especially if you've upgraded them as indicated above.
At maximum (Perfect) each set has great features depending on your fighting style. If you've had a look at our guide with the best items to start the game, you already know which is the best armor to start with. If, however, you need something for the more advanced stages we recommend the cat's equipment that, despite giving up a bit of defense, allows a fluidity and speed of movement without equal and able to save you from any situation.
