Choosing your ship carefully and its ship class can make or break your World of Warships. Each player will have a preference for what ship class they like to play with and what ship class they do well with. With each class, you can choose from a variety of ships that can seriously alter your team's overall strategy. The Midway, for example, handles lead bombardment better than its Japanese counterparts, but has smaller squadrons. Here is our list of the best ships available for each class. None of these ships are premium, so any player can earn them over time. While each of these ships is a great addition to your arsenal, the gameplay of World of Warships depends largely on your personal preferences. Use this loss as a guide to find the ships and equipment that best suit your personal play style.
Cruiser: Helena
It was difficult to choose the Helena light cruiser over the available heavy cruisers, but its high speed, stealth, and unique gun configuration set it apart from other ships in the class. Helena is an American light cruiser that has a unique 15-gun configuration similar to that found on Japanese cruisers. Typical of American ships, players must concentrate on keeping Helena out of direct line of fire in order to use her effectively. Fortunately, her high speed and concealment make it easy to keep her away. Helena works best when firing from behind, the ship's high arcs of fire make it easy to hit passing enemies while remaining hidden. Her 15-gun load can cause an enormous amount of damage if enemy ships mistakenly take the full weight of her flank salvo. If a good captain takes note of the ship's weaknesses and makes an effort to protect them, the Helena can become a serious problem for opposing players.
Destroyer: Kitakaze
Generally, there are two ways to play destroyers, hit and run and create traps. Kitikaze handles both of these strategies very well. Kitikaze is a direct upgrade from Akizuki, so if you are comfortable with Akizuki, you will definitely love Kitakaze. As is typical of Japanese destroyers, the Kitikaze has excellent speed and stealth and improved penetration thanks to the 100mm armament. Kitikaze includes a total of eight 100-mm armaments and a six times larger torpedo launcher that can do a lot of damage in hit-and-run attacks. When combined with its torpedo reloading booster, it can put up to 12 torpedoes in the water at a time. The Kitiakaze already has a super fast reload speed that can be upgraded with the basic targeting skill and the main battery mod Mod 3. Kitikaze can be the perfect ship to place and trap in the game. Its good stealth and speed allow it to sneak past most other. ships with ease, and it can cause massive damage thanks to its faster reload and stronger armament.
Battleship: Gneisenau
This is a fast German battleship that can really ruin someone's day if you take advantage of its advantages. The Gneisenau consists of a 380 mm main gun, two three-tube torpedo launchers, a minimum armor of 13 and a maximum of 360 mm, 3 main turrets, between four and 11 secondary turrets, and between six and 14 AA mounts. The two major advantages of this craft are its maneuverability and adaptability. The Gneisenau has a top speed of up to 32 knots with a fairly fast turning speed, making it comparable to the top tier ships available in the game. It can easily crush most ships you encounter and can take a lot of damage. more damage than you think thanks to the turtle armor system. Gneisenau also has a decent AA aftermath, so if it is fully equipped for the anti-aircraft game, it will make short work of any enemy aircraft. Players with Gneisenau should rush to upgrade the hull (B) as quickly as possible, as it will add a ton of HP and more secondary weapons.
This ship can handle almost any strategy and, in some cases, can function as a cruiser with the right construction. While it can handle anything you throw at it, Gneisenau works best when used for AA duties or as an aggressive fighter.
Aircraft carrier: Midway
The Midway is the best of the entire U.S. carrier line and is well suited to adapt to any strategy if needed. The Midway has fewer aircraft and smaller squadrons than some of its counterparts, but each aircraft has much higher health. Midway squadrons can take much more damage from AA fire than other aircraft, allowing you to play much more aggressively with them. The Midway's best planes are its dive bombers. Dive bombers can cause tremendous damage to any kind of ship while also setting fires. Players using Midway can and should use Tiny Tims, which have a higher chance of penetration and fire than other HVARs.
Aside from better aircraft, Midway also handles better in open combat. It has thick deck armor and higher hit points than most other ships in the class. She also sports powerful AA equipment that is very good at turning enemy aircraft into confetti. She also has a top speed of 33 knots. The armor and speed of this ship make her surprisingly flexible. Midway can get into the thick of things, although it is not recommended, and quickly adapt to the flow of battle no matter what strategy you use. The biggest drawback to this ship is that it is locked behind Level X, which can take a while before you get there.
