We recently got a glimpse of the first set of perks available to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players, and they're a blast from the past. None of the perks featured are entirely new, but they've been concentrated from their original versions in older games, showing that the design team is serious about making every player perk worthwhile. Below is the full list of perks revealed so far for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Cold blood
What he does: You do not appear on thermal imagery, your nameplate does not appear for players in vehicles, and Player Controlled Scorestreaks do not highlight you. AI Scorestreaks doesn't target you at all.
It's a must-have benefit, simply because it protects you from so much. The Anti-Streak utility alone makes Cold Blooded worth including in your build.
Engineer
What he does: You can re-roll your heal packs, detect enemy equipment and Scorestreaks through walls, and see enemy Scorestreaks on the minimap.
Another multi-pronged benefit that gives you a lot of support utility. Depending on your playstyle, Engineer can be either very useful or totally insignificant.
Bullet proof vest
What he does: You take reduced explosive damage and Molotov fire damage.
Anything that gives you extra durability is worth taking. You can rely on your situational awareness throughout the day, but once that fails you, you'll be happy to put on the Flak Jacket.
Ghost
What he does: Enemy spy planes cannot detect you while controlling a Scorestreak, planting or defusing bombs, or moving around.
Depending on how Cold War's gameplay revolves around Objectives and Series, Ghost could prove to be quite useful, but as it stands, it seems like a strictly specialized perk.
Ninja
What he does: You are resistant to the field microphone and make less noise when sprinting.
Another specialized perk that might well complement a narrow playstyle, but isn't a must.
Steward
What he does: Equipment recharges with a 25 second cooldown.
A top notch benefit if you actively use your gear and take advantage of the extra cost, but not ideal for snipers or those who like to play slower in general.
Scavenger
What he does: You can recover ammo from fallen players.
Ammo management isn't a big deal in Call of Duty in general, which makes Scavenger a somewhat unnecessary perk. Hopefully the Cold War somehow justifies it.
Tactical mask
What he does: You are immune to gas and very resistant to stun and flash grenades.
Anything that increases survivability and gives you a chance to recover from bad situations is great. The tactical mask is an essential advantage.
Tracker
What he does: You can see the trails left by enemies on foot, and aiming at enemies reveals your team's minimap to them.
A powerful support perk that can be used for a lot of things and will help you position yourself and defeat enemies. It's great to have in any build, but especially if you like to coordinate team tactics.
We'll keep this article updated with new information as the benefits of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are added and changed.
