Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini review

The proliferation of devices is now a constant in the smartphone market: even Apple has decided to double its offer with the simultaneous launch of the iPhone 5C and 5S. But no one beats Samsung, which in this field has long been a supporter of a philosophy that we could summarize as "a phone for every pocket". In some cases the purpose translates into well-centered products, in others the feeling is that of being faced with a pure commercial operation.

    Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini review

The latter is the case with the new Galaxy S4 Mini, a mid-range Android terminal that uses the name of the top of the Samsung range, but has little to do with its illustrious older brother, if not for the almost identical aesthetics, condensed thanks to the 4,3-inch display.

At first glance, the Galaxy S4 Mini doesn't disappoint: i materials plastic models are of a more than good level. The interface is the same to which Samsung users are now accustomed and it dresses the operating system in an efficient and practical way and the fluidity in everyday use is almost flawless.

On the other hand, some problems are felt in more intensive uses (games, for example), but after all, the dual core chosen by Samsung cannot be compared to the quad cores that equip the top of the range. In the course of our system tests, the device actually recorded almost half the performance compared to its older brother, even if the rendering of the web pages is excellent.

Compromises were also made on the front : certainly it was not conceivable to use the Full Hd of the Samsung Galaxy S4 also on this device, but we would have expected at least a 720p high definition; instead, one has to settle for a 540 X 960 pixel just enough for this generation of smartphones. Discreet camera principal than with his own 8 Mpixel it offers good quality shots in bright light and tends to accentuate noise only in night scenes.

La battery from 1.900 mAh aligns the autonomy of the phone to the market average: the end of the day is reached with average use, while in case of intensive use it is good to take the charger with you.

In close, the Galaxy S4 Mini is not an unattractive object: the price is not exactly low, but after having known the similar offers of Htc and the (presumed) mid-range Apple we do not feel like raging on the commercial positioning of the S4 Mini. If anything, the disappointment comes from the name chosen by Samsusung: those who, like myself, are anxiously awaiting a high-end Android phone without having to give in to the rampant fashion of maxi-screens, will not find the Galaxy S4 technology condensed in less space in the Mini, but a fairly standard mid-range Android.
