Week 1 of the 2020 NFL Season is officially in the books, which means the first batch of Team of the Week (TOTW) cards have now been released in Madden 21. The first batch includes a large number of Notable early artists, but which cards should you target in Madden Ultimate Team? Let's review our recommended week 1 TOTW maps in MUT.
But before we get into the nitty-gritty, let's review Week 1's best TOTW card. The featured Team of the Week card this week is Packers WR Davonte Adams. MUT's Week 1 Player of the Week, Adams (89 OVR) had a solid game on Sunday against the Vikings, bringing in two touchdowns while racking up 156 receiving yards. In order to acquire Adams, players will need to plug in six more TOTW Week 1 cards into the Player of the Week set. These cards are as follows:
- Vikings WR Adam Thielen - 2 cartes
- Chiefs DT Chris Jones - 2 cards
- Seahawks QB Russell Wilson - 1 card
- Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore - 1 card
A good tip when making these sets is to wait a few hours after release to complete it, if you are forced to. The reason is that, generally speaking, TOTW cards are harder to find when the promotion initially drops. This leads to higher than normal prices.
When it comes to Adams' player element, the card has some impressive stats. And at this early stage of the game, finding a 6'1 '' wide receiver with high speed (86) and acceleration (89) is a rare find. However, it may be best to be wise with your parts and wait for Adam's price to drop or not make this set. While the Packers' lineup will undoubtedly be a boost for anyone's team, better wide receivers will be released in the near future. For that reason, it might be best to wait until you grab Adams, especially if you're someone who doesn't spend real money on Madden.
Adams's TOTW article is truly impressive, but is it worth the cost?
Now that we've reviewed the Main Player of the Week, let's go over some maps that we think are worth exploring in Madden 21:
Russell Wilson
Wilson's Week 1 TOTW card packs a punch. With fairly good accuracy (84 SAC, 83 MAC, 86 DAC) and throwing power (83), the Seahawks QB should have no problem airing it on large receivers. But while Wilson can do damage in the air, he can be just as deadly on the ground. Armed with 77 Speed and 83 Agility, Russell Wilson should be able to work his way out of the pressure, as well as take off and run with pigskin if there is any open space. With these solid attributes, the 86 OVR quarterback can be a nightmare for opposing defenses, as well as a cheaper option for those who don't want to pay for their Core Elite item. Oh, and it also helps that when fully fueled Wilson goes up to an 89 OVR player.
Stephon Gilmore
CB Stephon Gilmore already had the best base MUT card among cornerbacks. After just a week, the Patriots standout has already received a new item, and while this new's base stats aren't as high as their actual Core Elite card, it's still an attractive option. Gilmore's TOTW card still maintains his male coverage (85) and area coverage (84) attributes balanced, as well as solid speed (84). And when fully powered, the Patriots CB's TOTW element changes to 90 OVR.
Adam thielen
Vikings WR Adam Thielen wreaked havoc against the Packers on Sunday, earning him a spot on that week's Team of the Week. Just like with Russel Wilson and Stephon Gilmore, Thielen's TOTW card total (82) is lower than his Core Elite card (83). However, when powered up, Thielen's Map can become an 85 OVR item. But let's focus on its 82 OVR subject matter for now. Thielen's card has decent speed, but it's nothing spectacular. The main reason the Vikings are on the sidelines is that he's a well-rounded receiver. Thielen has strong catching (82 CTH, 83 SPC) and course attributes (80 SRR, 77 MRR), as well as decent racing attributes (84 ACC, 83 AGI). Thielen is not a burner, but he is reliable.
