The rules of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds have kept things relatively simple since its inception - survival of the fittest. However, with Update 6.2, a new mode is coming next week that will undoubtedly shake things up.
Ditching the usual battle royale rules, PUBG finally gets a team deathmatch mode. As part of PUBG Arcade, the mode will introduce 8v8 team battles. The trailer for the upcoming mode is below, along with additional details, so you know exactly what you're aiming for.
The rules, follow them
While Team Deathmatch is not a replacement for PUBG's iconic Battle Royale setup, it does offer a whole new twist to the game. You'll team up with other players and take on them on seven different battlefields, drawn from the game's popular maps. There are also a variety of weapon loads while using the same PUBG gameplay that many have become accustomed to.
Here's a breakdown of the general rules of the mode:
- 8v8 matches, first-person perspective only (FPP for short)
- Spawn kits are activated and you can select them by opening the map
- Respawns are activated and available five seconds after each death.
- To keep things fair, players will be invulnerable for a few seconds after respawning, and in a location close to friends, provided it's safe.
- “Down but not out” (DBNO) is deactivated and there is no reversal. This is intended to make matches flow much faster.
- Friendly Fire is off, so don't hit your teammates
- If you leave the mode for some reason (accidental disconnection, stopping rage), you will not be able to join it. You have to wait until the end of the match or find a new one. Additionally, if you become inactive for a reasonable amount of time, your character is automatically started from the match.
- To win a match, you must be the first team with 50 kills or the most kills after ten minutes. The first team to win two rounds is the winner of the match.
- You earn Battle Points (BP) for every match you participate in. Unfortunately, you cannot earn Survivor Pass XP.
Many maps to fight on
There are seven different Team Deathmatch fields, taken from PUBG battle royale maps. They break down as follows:
- Erangel - Stalber, Sosnovka military base
- Sahnok – Paradise Resort, Docks
- Weekends - Podvosto, Peshkova
- Miramar - Military Field
Keep in mind that the maps will continue to support the weather conditions they had in the battle royale. Be prepared for anything.

As you can see from the screen above, the scorecard tracks quite a bit in TDM. This includes team point totals, as well as individual progress for each player (such as kills, multiple kills, and assists). The more your score increases, the more battle points you gain.

Le Boost Gauge and Spawn Kit
As you earn and kill PUBG Arcade, your Boost gauge will fill up. This only activates if you don't take damage after five seconds. If you are affected, this waiting period begins again.
The counter starts at 50% and doesn't go down unless you get hit. It replenishes your health if you start to run out. To replenish it, you need to gain more kills and assists. It should be relatively easy, given the fast pace of each game.
Keep in mind that the boost gauge will not help when it comes to movement speed. Health only, friends.
Finally, here's some information about your spawn kit. As you play, you can select which weapons and other items you have in your gear. You can see how this loading with your dashboard by swiping from the map.
You can make changes if you think something isn't working for you. However, it does not take effect until after a respawn or the start of the next turn.
Eight types of respawn kits are available, including one shotgun kit, one SMG kit, two AR kits, two DMR kits, and two SR kits. None are denied to you, so feel free to experiment and see which one works best for you.
