Submachine guns, or SMGs, should always find a place in one of your loadouts. Although they appear to be small, nimble, and useless weapons, they will put an end to opponents in no time. Plus, in a small, enclosed space, they're much easier to use than swinging an assault rifle, making you a faster and more equipped player.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has its fair share of SMGs in its arsenal, and while they are all uniquely useful, some are just more useful than others. If you are wondering which one you should turn to in multiplayer modes, this guide will try to help you.
8. Striker 45
The reinvented UMP-45 came out of a nightmare. Its rate of fire is lackluster enough to take it out of the SMG category altogether. The new Striker 45 is more of a sub-par assault rifle aimed at those who can only pull off headshots effortlessly. So even with attachments it really doesn't help. You must respect, however, that Infinity Ward has graced our nostalgia with its existence.
7. PP19 Bizon
The description of the PP19 Bison, in the game, is written as "well balanced" with a "high capacity helical loader". The best advice we can give is never to go for a gun that is specifically designed to be balanced. That ultimately means it's decent in all comparable stats, with no standout functionality. Recoil is as smooth as silk, but you'll need to take out a clip and a half to end a single opponent.
6. AUGUST
AUG does find its own group that revere the weapon. This is mainly due to the fact that its reach is above and beyond many other SMGs. Like the Striker, it's the mirror of a decent AR, but why settle for a decent AR-type pistol, when you can literally choose a great AR? It is not a logical choice in our eyes, but if you want to shoot far and fast, by all means.
5. Use
Whatever you do with the Uzi, don't try to use it for anything other than close range or medium range combat, or you are going to look pretty dumb when someone is mooning over your corpse. . There is a frustrating feeling that Infinity Ward debated to make it a secondary weapon. We say this because, like a pistol, its clip is too small and difficult to control. The only thing that is special about the weapon is its stunning appearance in shiny golden camouflage. If you really want to unlock the camouflage, add some accessories that calm his insanely shaky recoil.
4. P90
What was once the best, slowly turned into a bad performer. With the next three of our weapons listed being such rapid fire weapons, the P90 is like an aging quarterback that can't keep up with the competition. The pistol has seen a lot of updates that have lowered its damage rating, so it never succeeds against MP5, shotguns, and almost any AR.
3. MP7
If you don't think you can miss a shot, the MP7 is your weapon. It's practically the Uzi but with easy to use knockback and damage. In modes like Search and Destroy, the MP7 is a formidable tool used by the most stealthy gunners. If attached with the monolithic suppressor, along with other top notch attachments, the MP7 will be a powerful punch in close range battles. We recommend activating Ghost and Tracker as perks, so you can sneak around the map unnoticed, chasing enemies from behind with this swift killer.
2. Fennec
This new SMG is starting to be hailed as one of the best in the game. You'll be moving a bit slower than if you had an MP5 or MP7, but its precision will save you a lot of ammo clips. In reality, it's like it's what the Striker 45 could have been - an SMG that isn't quite as fast but is aimed at expert players who can nail down the tiniest of hitboxes. This is the first update that has seen an increase in rate of fire, so there are concerns that it may soon overpower the MP5, as well as almost every other pistol.
1. MP5
As Call of Duty veterans say something like "kids will never understand the power of UMP 45", younger audiences will soon say that no one has ever understood the monster that is the MP5. We believe this, so much so that you should really try it out before the next game steals any relevance to Modern Warfare. It's almost poetic how her mobility and damage levels complement each other, as they're both lethal. The compact, one-foot-long weapon can take out teams at once, if the right props are turned on. We recommend that you place the Merc Foregrip, Stippled Grip Tape and FTAC Collapsible on it, to see its full potential.
