Remember that you want to build your team according to the best synergies. Why? Adding the right players will activate synergies, allowing you to boost the attributes of players on your team. But which HUT synergies are best in NHL 21? Let's go through it, starting with player synergies.
Player synergies
Howitzer
Howitzer Synergy has the highest cost among player synergies, and for good reason. Howitzer gives a +3 bonus to durability, passing, puck control, and the attribute that should be increased as much as possible, speed. Not only should the synergy give your skaters an extra boost when going up and down the ice, it should also ensure that your passes are sharper and more precise. As far as player synergies go, this is by far the best you can activate.
Speedster
The Speedster Synergy is not as powerful as the Howitzer, as it only boosts two attributes: speed and wrist fire power. But at a cost of four, that's certainly not a bad option, especially since it gives both categories a +4. Even though this synergy, much like the howitzer, only boosts the attributes of players who have the Speedster, it's still a solid option to run early on, especially if you can find quick players to run around. It is however limited.
Wizard
The Speedster and Howitzer synergies are the only ones that increase speed. But that doesn't mean these two are the only two-player synergies you should be performing. The Magician synergy gives a +4 to Agility, Deking and Control of the puck. Not only does this synergy reinforce one of the attributes of skating, it should also help you make nice moves to beat opposition on the ice. It's not our first or second option, but it's not a bad synergy either.

Team synergies
Heart soul
The Heart & Soul synergy is interesting. While the +4 on balance and blocking hits doesn't sound great, the toss here is the stamina and face-off increases. Since this is a synergy of team, not only do players who have this synergy get the boost, so do all of the cards on your team. A +4 to the Faceoff attribute of each center man can help give you an extra edge in the circle. And don't sleep on that stamina boost because it can help you get the most out of your team's shifts.
Essa
Swarm, NHL 21's cheapest team synergy (cost of 8) might not be the most appealing, but it shouldn't be overlooked. Swarm gives Agility, Defensive Consciousness, Handeye, and Stick Checking a +4. Boosting defensive awareness should be good for your AI, and anything that increases a skating attribute should be considered. While this might not be the sexiest synergy in the game, it can be useful and inexpensive to activate.
Distributor
Last, but not the least on our list is Distributor Synergy. While both of the synergies we mentioned above are effective, the distributor is the one you need to prioritize. The Distributor gives a +3 Team Scale increase to the following attributes: Speed, Passing, Puck Control, and Durability. The +3 increases to puck control and durability are nice, but the emphasis here is on the increases in speed and passing.
A +3 to speed across your entire squad is crucial, especially if you're running into a stacked roster. And if you want to make goal plays, that passing boost will help you not only when it comes to riding the bike with the puck, but those odd runs as well.
