Android Wear is probably the best smartwatch platform out there. The update to Android Wear 2.0 added a lot of really cool features like standalone apps. There's still a lot of work to do, but there are a few decent apps out there right now! Here are the best Android Wear apps. Plus, they should all be compatible with Android Wear 2.0! In early 2018, Google renamed Android Wear to Wear OS. Everything works basically the same way, but with a new name.
The best Android Wear apps
AccuWeather
AccuWeather is one of the few Android Wear apps with 2.0 support. The app does all the basics including current temperature, forecast, radar, weather alerts, and smaller stats like humidity, wind speed, and more. It works well on Android Wear and on your mobile device. There are not many disadvantages. Most app issues are temporary. The free version has advertising. You can pay for the pro version to remove it. Otherwise, both versions are basically the same.

Google Maps is another easy pick for the best Android Wear apps. It is probably the best navigation app on the platform. It is definitely the best navigation app on a smart watch platform. Most of the features are the same as the smartphone version. This includes directions, local business information and more. Admittedly, it's a bit difficult to follow the instructions on your wrist while driving. We encourage our readers to exercise utmost caution when using this app on the road. We have no doubt that it will continue to improve in general and on Wear OS.

Google Play Music
Google Play Music was one of the first Android Wear apps. He remains among the best. The Android Wear version allows you to control music, listen to content and interact with other elements of the service. The design of the phone app isn't great. It looks awesome, but there are tons of taps and swipes to get to where you need to go. The Android Wear version feels much better by comparison. Some parts of the app are free to use (including its song download feature).
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAYPodcastRepublic
Podcast Republic is one of the few podcast apps on Android Wear. It features a large library of video and audio podcasts. It also includes automatic downloads, multiple playlists, sync support, multiple language support, and SD card support. The Android Wear version of the app isn't as robust, but that's okay. It still works pretty well. The free version contains advertising. The paid version does not. That's about the only difference between the two.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAYPress SMS
Pulse SMS is among the best texting apps available. Android Wear has superficial SMS support. However, Pulse SMS allows support between your phone, computer, and watch. It's the only SMS app that we know of that supports all three platforms. It also features decent design, snooze notifications, GIF support, archiving, blacklisting, message scheduling, dual SIM support, and more. You can use the phone app for free. Getting help on other platforms involves a subscription service or a one-time payment. We recommend single payment.

RunKeeper
Runkeeper is one of the most popular fitness apps. It also has one of the best Android Wear apps. The app keeps track of your running and exercises. You can set goals for weight loss, running pace, and more. It also supports cycling and virtually any other activity besides running. The Android Wear app is a good extension of the main service. Like most people, it doesn't have all the features. However, he's had enough. The full experience does require a subscription, though, and we think it's a bit pricey. Strava and Lifesum are also great Android Wear apps in this space. Of course, if you want it for free, Google Fit is still the best free fitness app for Wear OS.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAYComputer
Calculator by Xlythe is an expanded version of the stock Android calculator app. He obviously does the basics like arithmetic and some algebra. The app also includes graphing calculator functionality, equation history, and of course, Wear OS support. It also looks a lot like the stock app. The Wear OS version is a bit cramped, but it works perfectly. Also, this app is open source in case you want to see what drives it. It's pretty good when it comes to calculator apps. However, it is arguably the best calculator for Wear OS.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAYBring! Shopping list
Bring is a shopping list app. The app comes with a good design, lots of options, and Android Wear support. You can create separate lists for separate activities. Moreover, it uses a layout of cards and tiles. It looks fresher than most other grocery list apps. There are many note-taking apps on Android Wear, but this one is very charming.

audiobooks.com
Audiobooks.com is one of the largest audiobook apps. It offers a collection of over 100 audiobooks. There are also over 000 free selections. Other features include variable playback speeds, Android Auto support and of course Android Wear support. You get a free audiobook with an option to purchase additional at a discounted rate. We're not a big fan of subscription publishing services, but this one works well on Android Wear 7.
DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAYWear OS by Google
Wear OS is the official app from Google. It is necessary to pair your smartwatch to your smartphone. Also, the app contains things like Google Assistant settings, Google Fit, and more. However, its most important features are its apps and face information. The app is a great repository for such things. Google Play does a good job, but this app gets you there faster. Google Assistant comes with Wear OS. We strongly recommend that you use it too. It can do all the fun things it can on your phone, except on your wrist. Also, it can take notes, turn your smart lights on or off, etc. Wear OS is basically Google Assistant on your wrist with the time and date.
